Yeah I'm sick and tired of people calling themselves empaths but then they aren't actually empathic lmao. Same with HSP... I'm an actual HSP and I find the whole new age bullshit about empaths to be extremely narcissistic, filled with professional victims, and people who want to feel special. I get it, I genuinely do. This world makes everyone feel like shit so we try and find ways to cope with our problems in, usually, toxic and unhealthy ways. But it's gotten to a point where anyone and everyone is calling themselves an empath or an HSP just because they feel emotions and have a basic amount of empathy for others. Everyone has some level of empathy. Even sociopaths and psychopaths do. It's called cold empathy or cognitive empathy. So just because you are empathetic to people doesn't automatically make you an "empath" or a HSP. Being a highly sensitive, extremely empathetic person is PAINFUL. Pure emotion. It's not fun. It's not healthy. It's not good. It is debilitating. It keeps you in abusive relationships longer because you genuinely feel for the other person (not because you're afraid of being alone). It makes it hard for you to say no to others and set healthy boundaries because you feel a responsibility to care for others because of your high empathy. It keeps you from socializing and makes you want to distance yourself because you constantly feel drained even when you're not doing anything or even talking. Just being around others is exhausting. It emotionally and physically drains you. It overwhelms you. It hurts because you want so badly to be there for others but their suffering and your inability to help change the circumstances is debilitating. You're easily manipulated because you project your good hearted nature onto others. You bend over backwards to accommodate others even when they don't accommodate you because you genuinely want to help which can lead you to feeling even more drained and then unappreciated, unworthy of care, and neglected. You constantly feel like a burden for feeling so intensely all the time... you don't want your emotions to have the same effect on others just as other people's emotions have had an effect on you. You tend to be a giver but rarely be the receiver. You're okay with not receiving things in return but you tend to wear yourself thin. You're good at detecting lies and manipulations but because you deeply want to believe in people you ignore red flags and get hurt a lot. You empathize with everyone... EVERYONE. Even people who you don't want to empathize with because you can't fucking switch it off. These people who claim to be HSPs or empaths usually can switch their empathy off from person to person. Real HSPs cannot switch it off. It has taken me YEARS to be able to protect myself and regulate the emotions I feel that aren't even my own. So I highly doubt Shane is an "empath" or an HSP. He seems like a person who has a VERY sensitive ego tho that's for damn sure. And yeah I even have empathy for him right now even tho I really don't fucking want to.

Maybe his past gets brought up every couple years, not as some conspiracy against poor lil Shane, but because he has never adequately addressed it and continued to profit off it. Shane himself admitted all his past apologies were meaningless and just a quick reaction to get himself out of trouble. Nothing has ever been resolved, he hasn’t even addressed the Smith family, and he has not taken a hard look at himself or grown, he just knew how to rebrand and manipulate on TH-cam. Stop making Shane out to be a victim because he’s been asked to answer for his own actions.

I feel like it's kind of a cop out, what ryland and Morgan have said in there videos. I understand the idea that they see and interact with Shane everyday and are able to see more than what he projects to everyone else on the internet, I dont personally think it's right for ryland and Morgan to say that watching his old videos is like watching a different person that they dont recognize. It really just seems like another way to deflect responsibility and accountability of the fact that he did those things, that or they just really dont want to accept that he actually put the stuff that he did out there. As if it's a protection thing.
Given Shane's behavior and things he has actually said himself, I don't think any of his reflecting went very deep. He said in his last apology video that in the past he's apologized just because he didn't want everyone to hate him. If he had actually felt badly and done the introspective work and research to understand why his behavior was so unacceptable, this wouldn't be happening because he would've taken accountability many years ago and "bye sister" wouldn't have happened.

Reminder that Shane Dawson’s movie “not cool” in which he made ableist,racist, etc jokes one of which included a black homeless man eating his own shit was only made 6 years ago. Shane was around 26. So no, it wasn’t that long ago and no he was that “young”. He literally fought his producers to get those jokes in the movie.
While i think that is true, I also think he was defensive on a lot of things in that movie. He strikes me as a nervous person and when I am nervous I can reach a point where I shut down completely and even become rude to people if it means I get to feel safe again. I think he took the criticism as a personal attack on himself. Sure its not a healthy practice and if you recognize it and why it happens you need to work on it, which i feel like he did after that movie. No one (hopefully no one) expects Ryland to leave his fiance. I think the internet just likes to know people's stance on things. I personally didn't want a response because like he said, he wasn't around for those videos and for all we know he had no idea they existed. A lot of people joined TH-cam in 2012/2013 as opposed to those of us who've been here since 2005/2006 when the site was in it's infancy. Shane has to take responsibility for himself, it's not Ryland's job to take the heat for this.
