I want to be St.Vincent when I grow up. I still don't know if anything "beat(s) a slow dance to death" but she helped me heal after losing my wife of 15 years in Jan 2020; and she is legit badass wicked competent. She is a true reinventor, redefining the art and the frame. Masseduction and St Vincent helped me drag my own lost and confused, formerly narrow, old white ass through customer service career land in the time of the pandemic. My trans son listened to me go on and on about Los Ageless and Slow Disco lol . Just a straight-up fanboy post, I give no fucks thanks for being you Ms. Clark Goddessspeed💗🏳️🌈
@@lonhodges3554 I’m so sorry for your loss. And you sound like a great parent, by the way. :) For me, it was being raised in a homophobic church, in a homophobic home, and a homophobic school, and suddenly realizing I was gay. I became suicidally depressed, because I thought I was an abomination. A few months before, I’d started listening to St. Vincent’s self titled album. “I prefer your love” hits really, really hard as a depressed gay teen losing their religion and being too afraid to tell their parents of either.
@@Jaur-jaur my oldests mother,we'd long since divorced, was afraid to tell her rural Southern parents about our child's Journey because she was afraid that it would make her, the mother, look like a bad parent. I'm so sorry you had to go through that, and I wish to send you a virtual hug through the internets. Thank you so much for your sympathy and your strength
what are you even talking about? your fave lorde has not put out anything that hasn't been done before. St Vincent aka Annie Clark's last three albums are full of stuff that has not been done before. Now Clark just wanted to ebrace the side in her music that she hasn't done before but what she has listened to the most in her life. And yet the music on Daddy's home is very much this day and age. There is no other artist alive whose every album is very different from the albums they have made before.
@@axxaaxax2362 she deserves the attention more than those pop stars nowadays tho. Ask a teen about lorde and theyll just only tell the royal girl. Lorde is still overrated and this MAY she’ll comeback and give psychedlic songs you’ve never heard
... St Vincent, thank you, excellent. I'm with you..... African proverb : the child who is not embraced by The Village will Burn It Down to feel its warmth....... And have you heard the Laurie Anderson song, oh Superman? Truly chilling....... And I made up a knock knock joke!... Knock knock... Who's there?... Your mentor.... Your Mentor who?... your men tore this world apart. Now your women will have to put it back together.
May you always seek the truth, recognize her beauty when she reveals herself to you, act on feeling and intuition, question: to dispel the illusions and permit the muses to 'stork' and / or 'chisel' away, in service of the song. As a Gen X 70's person that was reared on all things music, I'm looking forward to listening to this story and feeling the funk, groove and vibe therein. Success to you Annie! PS: May the opportunity for clarifying conversation forge itself?
I'm so happy to see this clip. I kind of got parts of the song, but now it really makes sense. Moreso, it really resonates with me. I keep telling people that bigotry is dying all across the world now and that's why the bigots themselves are getting more and more violent lately. They see their various forms of bigotry as major parts of their identity being taken away. Still it's no reason to force the rest of us into trying to stop our species evolution, even if we could. P.S. I would love to just sit and jam guitars with you someday. No one around me plays an instrument here, but I grew up in the SF East Bay Area back when you couldn't walk out your door without tripping over a guitarist. lols I miss those days.
She's hyper intelligent and awkward simultaneously, she has to be an INTJ like me, I know we are a rare breed, but her and Goldfrapp give me big INTJ vibes, like there's a cornucopia of resonances and opinions in the head, but there's few if any people who you can really engage with properly. As a surrealist artist and writer, you end up disengaged from society somehow, because those sparky other jigsaw puzzle pieces you never meet. She's fascinating, might not be fired up by her female inspirations, but I'd like to jaw with her about her fascinating, diverse and surprising music and other things.
When can I acquire a personal Annie Clark to conjure in times of distress or just for means of social engagement? Is she from the future? Is she timeless? Do we need another dose from Daddy's Home?! Yes, yes, yes, yes. 🙏👽🙏
this song lives in my mind rent free *all day*
Same here.
St. Vincent saved my life ❤️
That’s not an exaggeration.

St Vincent & Iggy Pop are living legends. Love them while they're here. Live in this moment and know its greatness.
... :-)... All right!
A brillant brain. The best guitar at the world now. A living genius.
BEAUTIFUL!!!
Yes. Always.
if lorde is the future of music, st vincent is bringing back the nostalgia of old great musics.
They're two of my favorites
