      I used an E12. You can also use a normal 3/8 ratchet if you don’t have an E12.

    That alternator is in the same position as the jeep 3.6 mounts up the same way too

      100% correct. They share the exact same chassis.

    Hi I sure appreciated your video on how to change your air filter. In the comments of that video you mentioned that you were going to make videos for changing the cabin filter and spark plugs. Are you still planning on making them? And while I'm shamelessly begging for those two videos, how about one for replacing the drive belt. Your air filter video was by far the best of all the others on TH-cam so that's why I'm hoping you will continue to make others. Thanks so much for helping so many of us out, much appreciated!

      Thanks for the kind words, I'll post those videos soon. Regarding the drive belt, you can use this video if you scrub to 3:37 or you can use this other video.th-cam.com/video/1G37pBBnDX0/w-d-xo.html - It's actually very simple
      1. Draw the belt route on a piece of paper before you remove the belt so you will the proper route to put it back on.
      2. Use an 11/16 socket and crank down on the tensioner pulley, the belt will instantly loosen
      3. Remove old belt and replace with new belt (begin with removing the belt off a small pulley first)
      4. Before starting the engine, inspect the belt to make sure all the grooves are securely on.
      I will post a video soon either way.
      Good luck!

      Thank you so much for the detailed reply! Do you recommend replacing any of the tensioners or idlers at the same time? Mine aren't making any noise yet... Thanks!

    Can you specify whats are expected volt/amp after replacement .

    • @IvanSchlachter
      @IvanSchlachter  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question: With the engine off, the fully charged battery voltage will measure 12.6 volts. This is known as “resting voltage.” When the engine is running, battery voltage will typically rise to 13.5 to 14.5 volts. The battery will be boosted to these higher levels by your new functioning alternator. Hope this helps and good luck.

    Great video, have you had any issues with the auxiliary battery yet?

    • @IvanSchlachter
      @IvanSchlachter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never had any issues with either the main battery or the auxiliary battery. My car is over nine years old and I had never changed either of them. Even though I knew it was the alternator, I swapped out both batteries as well. Btw, it’s very easy to get to the auxiliary battery without cutting the carpet. I’ve seen videos of people cutting the carpet in back of the net and it wont save you any time if you cut.
      Are you having issues with the auxiliary battery?

    Great video! Would you mind sharing how often you do oil changes and how many miles yours has?
    Have you had any timing chain rattle as of yet? I am doing research for my next family vehicle and the 2013 to 2015 ML350 is on the list but I have heard about coolant leaks and timing chain issues as some problems to look out for. But it seems like a very reliable and easy to work on Mercedes.

    • @IvanSchlachter
      @IvanSchlachter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I change my oil and filter each September with full synthetic. I only drive about 10k miles a year.
      Knock on wood but I’ve never had the drive chain rattle. So far the ML has been extremely reliable, can’t say enough. However, these issues can happen any time and hopefully the solution is easy enough to fix ourselves. Great vehicle.

    Where did you buy the alternator ?

    • @IvanSchlachter
      @IvanSchlachter  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I bought it at FCP Euro cause that’s always my first choice, but you can get it at lots of sites like AutohauzAZ or Parts Geek. They all should have it. Good luck!
