Nakamise, which continues from Asakusa's representative landmark, Kaminarimon, is one of the oldest shopping streets in Japan, established during the Edo period. It is a town full of exciting fun, where you can easily buy and eat souvenirs and retro downtown sweets such as freshly made monaka and ningyo-yaki. To fully enjoy retro fun, we recommend the attractions at Asakusa Hanayashiki or enjoying rakugo at the Asakusa Engei Hall.
Sumida River Walk is open from 7am to 10pm, and is the shortest route from Sensoji Temple to Tokyo Skytree on foot. From the glass floor of the 160m-long promenade, you can see the surface of the Sumida River and the ships in operation. The bridge's colour design uses "Skytree White" to match the colour of Tokyo Skytree, creating a sense of unity across a wider area. The illuminations of the bridge and Tokyo Skytree are linked at sunset, and the special lighting for different seasons and events is also a must-see.
