I understand what you are trying to portrait, but i want to know what tribe ate you representing. Kasi hindi po pwede na gagawan ng ibang steps ang authentic lumad tribe. Since you are discussing About lumad, wala pong steps na ganyan ang Lumad. Some of the steps that you demonstrate is from Moro (muslim) tribe. Just a friendly advise, pls have a deep study of the Culture and practices of the tribe that your are trying to demonstrate. This is a simple act of showing respect to them. Im a Bagobo Tagabawa Tribe. And im not really okay with what i have seen. Thank you
Hi, to my understanding I believe he's doing an interpretative dance according to his interpretation. To little knowledge I have about lumads, based on the music alone it is comprised of so many different instruments (I can hear kulintang instruments)so that should give it away as not an exclusive lumad music/beat(but that is also understandable due to the Philippines being multi-cultural.) Lumads can be of any tribe and mostly, they respect and cherish their worship songs not just to be performed in front of a lot of people on the internet and it is very sacred. Plus the chanting (Baba nam Kevalam)in the end is not native to the Philippines but sanskrit of Hindu origins. So, my question is, do some or most lumad tribes adopt to these hindu practices? They are somewhat similar where they worship/honor many deities. The dance itself is nice and simple but the message it sends being portrayed as a worship song, I don't think it will pass. Sorry but not sorry. For me, to perform a worship song the thought and intent should be put into it. Worship songs should mimic the movements and sound of nature. So, I do agree with Moises that the title is misleading. A little research would be best to show respect to the lumads itself and their beliefs, practices and culture. Although we're all Filipinos, each tribe has their own distinct identities that they are so proud of and that's what makes them unique and known for. True that I don't have direct experiences with most of our lumads since my family left our country when I was still young but I had a piece of general knowledge which is common to all ethnic groups and native american tribes that I have personally met and even with Hindu people. All is the same when it comes to worship and pride of culture so respect is key 🥰
Sorry but the first part of the music is singkil music and could be also be dance in kapamalong maong magi and maranao but your steps on that part and costume is not appropriate, your dancing but don't know the real meaning of it, I'm disappointed on you, me as a culture performer and choreographer.
The young nowadays should study our Culture. Im an advocate of Culture and Heritage. And this is not a Lumad dance. And when we say LUMAD, it is a general term for Forest or highland dweller tribes. And their are different lumads. They have different steps, and none of it can be seen on the Video.
Keep sharing our culture and flourish like a beautiful flower. New friend here.
