Williams's model is the best and most known choice of a spanish guitar: The Admira Juanita. It's very popular and a must have for flamenco players and, of course, guitar concerts such as this "Concierto de Aranjuez". It's the best non-spaniard spanish guitarrist I've ever seen.
The intro is done by an English Horn, not an oboe. The oboe has a straight bocal, or actually, no bocal at all as the double reed fits directly into the instrument. The English Horn, much like the bassoon, has a curved bocal which fits into the instrument and holds the double reed.
There is a posted video of Pepe Romero where he explains more aspects abput the concierto de aranjuez, if you´re interested you should see it, especially if you actually believe this is a good version.

para la informacion de alanegra31, k no se kien es, el interprete d una obra es casi tan importante como el compositor. cada interprete hace la obra suya d algun modo, e intenta mosatrar al publico lo k esa musica e s para el... sin los interoretes esa musica seria tan pobre como si joaquin rodrigo hubiese compuesto una simple esacala de todas formas, no niego k rodrigo es un brillante compositor español
WTF? he modified the rasgueado, look in minute 7:54. I didn't like that at all, that part gives me the chills when it's performed by yepes or paco de lucia, I can´t decide which one of those two is the best, but I have to say that this version is inferior to both of them.
nunc.. is being a bit disengenious when he claims that JW cant play the chords at 7:54 as he well knows he does it on the other version impeccably.I bet if his False God Yepes made this change he would be raving about it.
I really dislike this performation. I mean that, given than John Williams is playing I expected something a lot better, al least with more "soul". To me, this is way behind Paco de Lucia's perfomance.
are you serious??? yepes is sloppy.... compare the first mov of aranjuez williams vs yepes...... it's very clear that yepes.... is off rhythm.... noisy.... and not as musical.... he's an embarrassment to guitarists... if other instrumentalists heard him they'd think... very sloppy.... very unmusical.... awkward........ just my honest opinion
Thank you for putting this on as I have Williams playing all 3 movements on vinyl from the 70's. It was always one of my favorite pieces.
