Jamtsholing, a quiet foothill settlement near Samtse, gained historical significance with the inauguration of the Gyalsung Academy by His Majesty the King. The academy, one of four in Bhutan, now hosts 569 recruits (279 men, 290 women) for a three-month basic military training. Locals express pride and optimism, seeing it as a path to discipline, unity, and future leadership. The academy is also expected to boost the local economy by creating markets for agricultural products and fostering community development.
