Looks like fun, I haven't run a combine for years. Massey Harris ,Super 92 ,or JD 55. I always wanted to go out with a custom combine crew ,but I never did. 😊
Those were a couple exceptionally clean combines. I liked the L3 the best it still looked like new.
They take great care of their stuff. That L3 is pretty low hour if I remember correctly.
I use to work for allis chalmers and mostly worked on gleaner combines. Have been on many harvests with the combines that were in testing. The L series in my opinion was the best combine gleaner has made 😊
Gleaner makes a really good combine. In my area they were the rule. We had some neighbors that had Oliver. Man that R62 is makin a banging noise. The straw must be a little tough.
Excellent video, great content, love those classic Gleaners and your commentary, watching this from thr UK 🏴🇬🇧✌️
Much appreciated!
Grew up running a ‘58 A Gleaner in central Ks. Dad eventually bought a JD 95. Looks like good wheat.
Best we’ve had in this area in years.
Always enjoyed running those L series. Sometimes regret selling that last one but it just couldn't handle 8 rows of modern corn production. Then came R60, and now running stripper headers in cereal on 8780xp Massey and A86 Silver Massey. Great video!
A guy could still cut a lot of wheat in a day with two L3s and 24’ platforms.
Nice footage, and combines. They sound great. The audio also sounds good. Enjoyed the video, thank you
Thank you very much!
We had an L3, loved listening to that engine run.
Me too.
Nice video.
The head on the R62 sounds like the cross auger in-feed finger guide cam and followers could use some TLC. Lots of clanging from it.
Pretty normal issue. A lot of us ignore that.
@@nielsdybro9759 I was thinking the same thing. It sounded pretty loud, but I wasn’t sure if it was that, or the way the microphone was picking it up..really sensitive. I once rebuilt a pick up reel that sounded similar on one of mine.
good video of the gleaner combines
Thanks 👍
I still use a G gleaner and a 95 John Deere looking good guys be safe out there your buddy from Nebraska
Glad to hear somebody is still using them.
TT,
I like the older un styled L series better. I would bet the newer machines have much better capacity and technology. Nice video, Boe
Hard not to love an L series Gleaner
That is an beautiful L3
It truly is. Nicest one I’ve been near.
Beautiful machines and some nice looking wheat. What was the yield?
Didn’t ask. Wouldn’t share it here if I knew.
Those Gleaner L's still getter done! They had 40% of the combine market back in their day. Hell of a good wheat crop, here at Diller Ne I didn't have any but the neighbors 2 fields made 86 and 90bu/acre.
That’s some darn good wheat!
You need a 24 ft head for the 860 and show the old L3 who’s the boss of the early 80’s wheat fields.
Very, very tempting
Beautiful Kansas wheat. What was the bpa?
Never asked. Wouldn’t have shared if I did know.
Gleaner does it cleaner😊
Yes it does!
wish i could come out there with my small square baler and bale some straw
You don’t see much straw baled around here. Try to leave as much residue as possible.
Have told the story about the silver seeder? My custom harvester neighbor got home from wheat harvest , told me this. A fellow wanted to be a custom harvester , he bought gleaner combine. Ask a farmer can I help you harvest? The farmer said yes! The fellow made a round the field. The farmer got on the combine looked in the grain bin , ask the fellow this. Did you adjust this combine? The fellow said this I have to adjust it!!! (Cylinder concave machines) Show this to the people running the combines!!!!
Thanks for sharing
