Thanks for posting - it’s a fascinating look back at this very bitter political rivalry.

This is great! Koch and Cuomo were two extraordinary leaders - we were lucky to have them. I interviewed and met them several times over the years. You'd expect Koch to be the funny one, but Cuomo was incredibly charming, funny, and down to earth - truly one of the nicest people I ever met. He would be so proud of the job his son is doing.

@@OhSankYouDoktor It is always amusing when people comment on a two years old comment as if it was written yesterday. Governor Cuomo did a god job with covid in New York. The sex scandals was not really that much of a deal. At least not compared to another New Yorker, Donald Trump. But while Donald Trump can sexually abuse women, pay off porn stars, and cheat on his wives the same standard does not apply to other politicians. I wonder why. It is very strange.

@@janesmith7676 Governor Cuomo did a good job on Covid. His father would indeed be proud. And if you are so shocked and disgusted by the scandals, they are just peanuts compared to Donald Trump`s scandals. But i wouldn`t be surprised if you were a Trump supporter, and that you are here because you hate on democrats.

Mario is rolling over in his grave watching Andrew ruin all the corrupt favors he did to get him where he is.

The problem with Ed Koch (and I generally liked and respected him) was the same problem that many NYC politicians still have with the state beyond the five boroughs (or, even Manhattan) - they just can’t grasp the fact that there is a world beyond the city!

Koch was NOT a loyal democrat either. He would go on to support republicans for office and undermind his own successor in New York City. That was why the state of New York rejected him. They did not trust him.

Koch was initially favored in the Democratic primary, but he had this tendency, somewhat uncharacteristic of most politicians, to just blurt out whatever the hell came into his head. As a consequence, he ended up making a number of stupid gaffes that torpedoed his candidacy. If he had been more circumspect, there's a chance we never would have had Cuomo as governor.
