Thank you for posting this. Even after all this time, I look back on our attempt to help Steve. We did our best. Steve passed doing something he loved
I’m the guy in the yellow helmet btw

I've been there on blossom bar before with my dad, uncle, and his dog.. luckily the boat flushed out and so did my dad and uncle, it took us three hours to get the dog off of the rock 😅

Really...Thomas Hood & guaranic...Really? Did you two even take note of what happened in this epic rescue? Have a heart: The team went beyond the call, executed a rescue in very difficult conditions and pulled the guy off a bad wrap...twice...and then the poor lad dies of a heart attack. This is one of the saddest stories I have ever heard of on a river trip. Well, the rescue team saved the day, and who ever made this movie added the perfect soundtrack. Oh, and Thomas, that move can be missed for any number of reasons, and in this case it may be that the poor boatman had a minor heart attack in the entry move, so he missed a couple of strokes. "The Picket Fence" in Blossom Bar is notorious for wrapping boats and drowning people...never take this "easy" move for granted.

Thank you for saying that. I'm the guy in the yellow helmet during the rescue. We did everything we could. It was his time and he went doing something he loved. I'll never forget this day

Nice rescue, sad ending. It's not as easy a move as it looks with a heavily loaded boat. One option is to have at some passengers walk the portage, which does make the move simple. That's what I did when I had 3 kids and my wife who cant swim. The Ranger at the permit station told us 3 people had died at BB already that year.

I don't know why/how so many people miss that move.

You should never have a rescue where the rescued end up in the water, if you can help it.
