    first of all, thank you for making these videos. i saw string art on social media en immediately wanted to make one of my own. But i didnt know where to look or search on how to do it. I ended up here on your channel and i havent started yet, but i am excited to start thanks to your clear explination videos. But i have a question, how do i know if i need to number from 0-179 or from 1-180? Im sorry if this question is asked before but i couldnt find it in the comment so i hope you can help me! Thanks!

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Some websites start the numbering from 0 and some from 1. So looking at the template I can determine from where to start numbering, 0 or 1. But if you are not able to do so do not worry. Suppose you number from 0-179 but your template does not have 0 then in that case you can treat 0 as 180. Similarly if you numbered from 1-180 but you template has 0 then in that case you can treat 180 as 0

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Line with means Thickness of thread. Not sure about transparency. I don’t know Thickness in mm but if the 0.12 mm Thickness is weight 80 polyester thread, then yes the thread will be ok.

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Distance between your nails should not be more than 8mm. So if you choose bigger board then your nail count will also increase accordingly. If these is too much gap between nails like 180 for a large board, the edge of your portrait will not look good due to excessive gap between the nails

    How can we understand the radius of the circle??

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally when u buy the boards the seller will tell u the diameter or radius. But in case you don’t have the info you can follow below method
      Place the board on a piece of paper and then trace a circle around the board. Cut out the circle from paper. Now carefully fold the circle in exactly half. Then fold again in half to make it a quarter. By doing so you will get an intersecting point. Once you have the centre you can measure radius easily with scale
      There are other mathematical ways also but this is much simpler

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it’s a square board then u can measure with scale and space the nails equally but if it’s a circular board then the final distance between the nails will depend upon board size and how many degrees apart nails are. For example for a circular board, if u r using 180 nails each will be 360/180 = 2 degrees apart. Anyways for circular board I have prepared a tutorial on how to generate mail placement for a circular board. Please refer to this video th-cam.com/video/xoT-7z6qAtk/w-d-xo.html
      At the end minimum distance between the nails should be 5 mm for easy looping of thread, no matter what type of board u r using

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This kind of portrait does not look good on a small frame. So I recommend the starting size to be 20 inch diameter frame. On this size also I do not recommend to use more than 180 nails. The minimum separation between the nails is to be 5 mm but this will depend upon board size. E.g for same number of nails on a board of 15 inch diameter the distance between the nails will turn out to be smaller than for the board of 20 inch diameter.
      Pictures matter. What I have figured out through trial and error is that picture is to be of high resolution with good brightness to contrast ratio. Also when generating the template fill the entire area with the face of the subject. The bigger the face, the better the template will be

    • @ahmadnusry9766
