No it’s showing how people were scared of Xornoth, at one point however I don’t remember if Joel was ever frighten by him, joel didn’t believe he existed. So it was showing the people that KNEW of Xornoth. (now for pearl she is head cannon to be a goddess, and a goddess wouldn’t really be scared of a demon, and pearl never did show to be scared of Xornoth from my knowledge at least)

I mean ig you could say myths like big foot don’t exist but people are scared of them but the main people who are scared of them are kids lmao so yeah I don’t think Joel was scared of him cause he had no clue he existed even when he popped up infront of Joel he was like meh it was probably nothing like when those giant red bean stocks (idk if that’s how you spell it) Joel was like huh when did those grow there? Must be nothing!
