    This course is amazing!
I'm only 1 hour in and have already learned so much :)
I alread have a career but have always had an interest in coding so decided i wanted to pick it up as a hobby... i started out learning python but c++ was always in the back of my mind as the language i really wanted to learn so i thought "why not just start with c++ instead" and i dont regret it at all!
I work installing building security systems and have access to the API for a high end security system so i would love to eventually write an integration for it to do some home automation... i know its going to be a while before i get to that point but i am having a blast learning and working towards it (and i have already started on some of the more basic functions for it to use later).

    • @CodeBeauty
      @CodeBeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +821

If this video reaches only one person and really helps her/him I'll be happy and it will be worth the effort!
Since the first day that I entered this industry, I couldn't understand people who were using their knowledge as a way to mock or laugh at someone who is just starting.
There are truly intellectual bullies in this industry. And by intellectual bullies I mean people who are indeed smarter and have more knowledge, but they use that knowledge to be dismissive, disrespectful, mean, or emotionally abusive towards those who know less.
Some people are not good at explaining, or they don't have time, and that is okay. But if someone is using his knowledge to make someone else feel bad or not smart enough, that person should not be promoted as a positive example, no matter how much he/she knows!
I don't lose anything by sharing my knowledge.
I'm not afraid that I'll be less valuable if someone else knows more. Moreover, if everyone else is better than me, that just makes me want to learn even more.
And if I'm going to reach anyone who is starting in this industry, I'd love that person to know that it's okay to struggle and fail. Everyone who is great failed at one point, so don't let anyone/anything discourage you from reaching your dreams!
If indeed this video reaches a lot of people, I'd love them to read this comment more than anything else!

I am not saying this to deflate your ambitions to learn you totally should being a dev is an awesome career but to just give you some perspective about your future career. I was in sales and became a professional developer about 10 years ago and thought I would escape working with people and I was wrong - working as a developer still requires you to work with other people A LOT, collaborating with other developers, project managers, product owners and often times with customers. Best of luck with your journey.

Yeah, as someone who works in Tech I also agree with Scott. You need to work with other people a lot in tech and honestly, some of them are pretty antisocial. So the best devs are those that are both good with tech and good with people because then they can get the best out of both. There is very few jobs where you will not be working closely in a team. Although this said, if you play your cards right you should not have to deal with the public, which is nice aha.

So, I just started my computer science major two semesters ago, and last semester we were introduced to C++ and I was almost pushed to tears because our 'professor' wasn't helping me at all. EVERYONE else except me seemed to already have learned coding before and the teacher knew this and told us to 'help each other", which unfortunately no one did. I felt like getting into computer science simply because I love video games and wanted to learn and work in that sector was a huge mistake.
So here I am, trying to learn c++ programming from scratch from a kind soul like you who are creating better help than college proffersors.

My reason to learn to program is that I feel that through programming you get the power to create technology that can serve people. I wish to finish this video in 3 days i.e. 29th, 30th and 31st Jan 2022 and would love to keep this comment as my commitment and progress tracker as well.

Serious kudos for making such a clear and easy to follow series of tutorials, and in your non-native language too!
    I've been programming 22 years in C, Java, Objective-C, Swift and Kotlin. I learned a tonne! 👍
    Thank you!

@@CodeBeauty I'm 3 hours in and I'm learning a lot but there's a lot of things I've noticed you doing that I've learned on learncpp saying that you shouldn't do for example, using namespace std, using (int) instead of static_cast. Im not hating just curious as to why great tutorial.

    • @lupsik1

@@Anthony0855 I know youre asking her but ill try answering question 1 and will go on a wild rant on question 2:
      1. using namespace std; is a bad habit to develop but its perfectly fine when you're only using a single namespace. People are really pedantic about it but there is no reason not to use it if theres no possibility of conflicting names in the first place.
      2. She should've, you're correct. This tutorial doesnt seem to acknowledge modern C++ programming guidelines and she keeps on using C-style logic. In her defense, C++ is commonly taught that way, at my university we've also been taught C++ like its C with classes and a few different keywords and the reason people do it is because the code looks more digestible at first glance.
In my opinion C++ should be taught the way you'll be expected to use it and making a tutorial which "takes you to an advanced level" without going over basic things like:
smart pointers, type inference, using std containers like vector, list etc, typical OOP things like abstract classes and operator overloading, range based loops/working with iterators, basic file structuring etc.
      is misleading.
All the above things end up making programming in c++ easier even if its a bit more intimidating at the start but it doesn't make sense to start learning a language by developing bad habits. Im sorry if i sound too negative here, she sounds like a great teacher with good understanding of computer science so it was a little bit dissapointing to see a course that claims to take you from beginner to advanced in C++ but then proceeds to teach you writing everything in 1 file and skips through most of standard functionality that seperates modern C++ from old C code for the sake of simplicity.

Because of your delicate effort to teach in a way that applying knowledge and requirement competency, this was the first time I was able to really complete a c++ learning video and really understand the logical sequence and knowledge, not just a fraction of it.
