Hello and thank you Tracy. The birds don't eat the popsicle sticks they just chew them and spit them out. It is very good for a bird to sharpen their beaks and lots of fun to play with. The wood is coloured mostly with a vegetable food colouring so it is not harmful to the bird at all. Birds in the wild will also chew wood or twigs. They are so much fun but they are a lot of work and so worth it. I hope you have a fantastic day.
