Dude honestly thank you. I was always wondering how this works specifically and now that the game is fps boosted on X-Series consoles I can finally get used to doing this consistently!
I was just searching for this. Thanks so much for making this tutorial for PS3 and Xbox 360 versions but now can you make a tutorial of this game for PS2/Wii versions? I'm trying to speedrun on the Wii version myself. Thanks a ton man. :) also congrats on getting 700 subscribers!
Thank you! I haven't played Unwiished in years, and I'm far from experienced with speedrunning it :P I'd suggest looking at hanpen357's speedruns for reference
Question, do your videos take a somewhat bit of inspiration from Bickuribox12's videos? I Kinda got that vibe from your Sonic Unleashed tips and tricks video
@SonicTeamHero its integral to learn the stage and when to jump and slide and use m or d speed or qss right? can i get an in depth explanation on what you do to study stages?
Yeah, you pretty much got it. I recommend checking out how top players speedrun stages. Try replicating what they do, and experiment with other movement options to see what works best for you
That is some interesting editing skills i like em... Seems official to me. Back to the point great tutorial but the only bad thing is its all muscle memory you got the hang of it while ill take years to get used to it Lol
Quick question do you have to move left stick sightly where he walking and and hold it while ur doing this because I am bad holding it when I start press square and all other things I have to do my thumb moves and I mess it up or do you don’t have to hold it or move at all this time but if I have to if there any technique or tips to help me keep the move stick in exact place without moving while press buttons to do m speed qss d speed and all that
You don't necessarily need to hold a direction while using qss, but it does allow sonic to pick up speed at a faster rate. Just practice keeping your hands steady, it'll feel more natural when you've performed it enough times
@@SonicTeamHero thank you and just to let you know I been practicing so much I got little better at times and it dose sometimes feel natural at points but it hard because my thumb moves when my other fingers try to touch the square circle then when I feel the stick move I know I messed up correct me if I’m wrong but do most people use tip of thumb or full thumb on the stick ?
@@Savage_Sonic930 Just gotta work on your dexterity, good luck. Everyone has their own play style so I can't really speak for others, do what works best for you. Personally, I use my whole thumb on the L-stick for basic qss, and I only use the tip of my thumb when I'm holding an m-speed or d-speed tilt. Hope that helps
Be sure to stomp in quick succession to maintain speed as it’s more difficult to use quickstomp slides when Sonic’s not moving that fast, and try keeping jumps at a low altitude to avoid getting slowed down by air drag
Hey thanks! You can practice qss almost anywhere, but I'd say Empire City Act 1 may be one of the best places. If you speed past the end of the aerochaser sequence, you can re-enter the bridge and practice qss there with fewer hazards
Alright,as I'm not skilled enough yet, il try m speed and d speed later and focus on qss. If I understand it correctly, its much easier to pull of right?
It really just depends on personal preference. For me, I tilt my right hand to the side and roll my thumb between the slide and jump buttons while holding boost. It's the kinda trick that'll feel more natural when you've done it enough times
To do boosting QSS, I rotate my right hand counterclockwise to cover X and B with my thumb. Some runners also use a two-handed button grip, it’s personal preference. So try out grips styles that you feel most comfortable with
The slide landing is key to gaining speed while quickstomp sliding. For the best results, try keeping jumps low to the ground to avoid losing speed while airborne, and keep in mind that it’s much more effective with a high speed startup
M-speed is faster overall. QSS is used to accelerate on land while M-speed is used to accelerate while airborne. When they're used is situational, try experimenting to see what works best for you
@@mbrelo2956 Boost drifting can be used to travel faster than normal. It's fast and easy but it's restricted to a few 3D locations in each Act, while QSS and M-speed/D-speed can be used almost anywhere
The quickstep-slide technique can be done in Generations, but it's not as practical. It can't be used to accelerate like in Unleashed so it's only really used to carry momentum when traveling at high speeds
I haven't tested it with base stats, but it should still work. QSS works best when you've got a good running start, like starting a QSS from an airboost-stomp for example
I'm guessing that you're talking about m-speed and d-speed; if you hold the analog stick so that Sonic just barely starts walking, you can reach top speed when airborne
It’s a matter of getting comfortable enough with Sonic’s movement abilities to traverse stages quickly. Most techniques in this game are easy to learn but hard to master
How about you do some speed running classic Sonic games and some speed glitches classic Sonic games how about you do all of those and I and then I can I and then I'm just a little sooner though don't even just you have you have to get a classic Sonic in your brain even a modern Sonic 1 you need this one Sonic game well then actually Sonic classic heroes Sonic 2 Sonic 3 Sonic and knuckles and everything except for the worst Sonic games don't even think about playing those but play Sonic advance plays Sonic advance 2 play Sonic advance 3 10 whatever blah blah blah the Sonic mania Sonic CD and Sonic colors yes you should do all of them you should do this for me Sonic colors too

Ayy you’re welcome, good luck!
how can youi use it though if you erpss a and b at the same time, its kind of hard to hold two buttons on average xbox controller.
Thanks man editing is amazing as usual!
Glad I could help!
SonicTeamHero help me for doing this all Night
I'm surprised how he does this with just imovie and Photoshop
I love you

Massive congrats on 700 man! Can't wait to see what the future hold, especially with these edits

This editing is on a whole new level

thanks for this! i was wondering how speedrunners gained speed by quickstepping, and now i know :)

Sonic Team Hero, you do a great job man, I love your speedruns and tutorials. Really helps out a lot. Thx and keep up the great work.

Muchas gracias por el tutorial estube aprendiendo mucho! :3
LIKE!👍👍👍
I'd recognize that PS Vita music anywhere!
Love this
Recently Mastered this along with M and D speed
Congrats on 700 subscribers
Thanks dude
And some say no momentum is present in 3d boost games🤣
Finally a speed glitch that is way easier than m/d speed
When you think of it, Unleashed QSS is a lot like the jump+slide glitch in Sonic Generations 3DS. At least from the look
Question, do your videos take a somewhat bit of inspiration from Bickuribox12's videos? I Kinda got that vibe from your Sonic Unleashed tips and tricks video
Actually I had other sources of inspiration for that video, but Bickuribox still has pretty solid quality content
Great tutorial!
Thanks avikai!^^

What's the music? Also great editing and tutorial overall.

Would you face off Joshua Salkeld in a Speed Battle? Also Congrats on getting 1,000 subs!
Thanks! I don't have plans for any speed battles at the moment, maybe someday

I fuck with the ps vita music
i'm suprised that you don't have 10000 subcribers
0:26 idk but that song in the background sounds like Mario
I don't have much precision with qss, I need to train a lot
It's best to space out your inputs and to find a rhythm that works best for you. Keep at it
Does leveling up Speed and Ring Energy increase the QQS speed? Amazing video too
Thanks! I haven't tested it out, but I don't think that QSS depends on speed or ring energy levels
Congrats i love your vids can u tell me whats the best training place for qss in your opinion???
Hey thanks! You can practice qss almost anywhere, but I'd say Empire City Act 1 may be one of the best places. If you speed past the end of the aerochaser sequence, you can re-enter the bridge and practice qss there with fewer hazards
Tfw your controller's bumpers are broken and barely work
Is that the psvita theme at the start???
Indeed it is :)
Nice
l love you
Does this work for Generations too?
You can use it to carry some momentum at high speeds, but it can't be used to accelerate like in Unleashed
Yes. Depends if you keep trying.
Please,¿you can traduce the video to spanish?, i dont understand nothing , thanks
Thx for the tutorial man the qss help me can you do a speedrun tutorial for sonic unleashed for usa and xbox one pls
Alright,as I'm not skilled enough yet, il try m speed and d speed later and focus on qss. If I understand it correctly, its much easier to pull of right?
QSS is pretty accessible and easy to use once you understand the basics
Name of music please, BTW thanks bro
Fox Capture Plan - Rising
@@SonicTeamHero besides, when are you gonna make a new vid, not that I'm rushing you or anything
hey man, what is the most comfortable way to do qss + boost?
It really just depends on personal preference. For me, I tilt my right hand to the side and roll my thumb between the slide and jump buttons while holding boost. It's the kinda trick that'll feel more natural when you've done it enough times
how do you QSS and boost at the same time? do you hold the controller like a claw or something? Asking because the X and B buttons are pretty far away
To do boosting QSS, I rotate my right hand counterclockwise to cover X and B with my thumb. Some runners also use a two-handed button grip, it’s personal preference. So try out grips styles that you feel most comfortable with
@Big Blue
How do you get the Quickstomp Slide to work constantly? I can NEVER get it to work continuously whenever I try to speedrun a stage.
The slide landing is key to gaining speed while quickstomp sliding. For the best results, try keeping jumps low to the ground to avoid losing speed while airborne, and keep in mind that it’s much more effective with a high speed startup
@@SonicTeamHero Okay, thanks.
one thing though at 1:59 i thought if you used qss at those moments the bar is supposed to go red
That restricted area is a special case; it caps Sonic's speed very low until the intercepter chase ends
yo, can i use a short part of this in a video of mine? i can credit you in the description
please spanish versión
Which is faster? Qss or m speed?
Btw, when do you use qss or m speed? It doesnt matter?
M-speed is faster overall. QSS is used to accelerate on land while M-speed is used to accelerate while airborne. When they're used is situational, try experimenting to see what works best for you
@@SonicTeamHero thank you!! Great videos, I love your content.
@@SonicTeamHero btw, also i saw that you use drift to go faster, how do you do it? It's easier than mspeed?
@@mbrelo2956 Boost drifting can be used to travel faster than normal. It's fast and easy but it's restricted to a few 3D locations in each Act, while QSS and M-speed/D-speed can be used almost anywhere

The quickstep-slide technique can be done in Generations, but it's not as practical. It can't be used to accelerate like in Unleashed so it's only really used to carry momentum when traveling at high speeds
What's the name of this song that you used in the video
What a video ! ¿This works in Sonic Generations?
Pablo Álvarez qss does not work in generations. It keeps some speed but it doesn't speed you up like Unleashed
It can be used to carry momentum at high speeds, but it's not nearly as effective as it is in Unleashed
Thanks guys
a.k.a the hand bone breaker. BTW IM GETTING AN XBOX 360 YAY
Thomas Lisa Williams Paul Jones Richard
This is so hard 😭how speedrunners even do this
The 3 people that disliked i hope never succeed in speedrunning
which do you think is easier to do, M-speed and D-speed or QSS?
M/D-speed is a lot more demanding than QSS as it requires precise inputs.
How do you animate like that? Jesus...
Most of this is frame sequences that I made in Photoshop, layered over gameplay clips. It's not that difficult, but it's very time consuming
any way to do this without upgrades? i tried boosting and then starting a qss but i feel sonic doesnt go any faster than snaking
I haven't tested it with base stats, but it should still work. QSS works best when you've got a good running start, like starting a QSS from an airboost-stomp for example
its just odd how im able to complete the first section of apotos act 2 faster by snake drifting rather than qss
How did you make starting screen
I used photoshop and iMovie to animate it with key frames
Thanks, I loved the animatipn😊@@SonicTeamHero
Sonic gens remember
Btw I bet u will have 2000 subs next year
Just 1K would already be a huge accomplishment for me XD
is this a better technique then m-speed or d-speed
this is a completely different kind of speed technique that can be used on its own or can be done in pair with m speed and d speed.
Hey Sonic team hero I have a question can you do qss in Sonic forces
Nah, unfortunately the slide is way too clunky
@@SonicTeamHero what about m speed and d speed
Nope, doesn't work on Forces' physics engine
@@SonicTeamHero that's weird I did the shadow episode and I did the speed glitch so how does it not work and stage 26 it worked
can u help me please
