That said: If you can't afford it - destination wedding, expensive dress, call the bride ASAP, explain it and if they are a 'good friend' they will understand and be willing to let you sit in the audience. If they cut toy out, they are a bridezilla who cares only for the look of their wedding. As a bridesmaid I wore an aubergine dress - fugly. I wore it for the day and sent it off to a thrift shop after the wedding - they were divorced 5 years later.
