I think the real reason why Orochimaru changed so much was that during Naruto he was terrified of death, but then in Shippuden he died for real and was eventualy brought back, so it kind of helped him with his fear, maybe he even got to see his parents on the other side, or whether they reincarnated or not.
Point is he is no longer motivated by fear of his mortality, so all that is left is curiosity and since he has almost all the time in the world he can just take things with more levity.

@@Boony-Bwa This is true. But in any case, he still wasn't dead. He knew everything she knew cuz he was watching from inside her. The other versions of Orochimaru were either killed or sealed away, but this one version of him never really died. His will and consciousness survived continuously.

Honestly, i'm quite glad orochimaru turned into this. Better than killing him off in shippuden or just forgetting about him. He just gets to continue doing what he loves doing the most while not having to worry about secrecy or swapping hideouts. He gets to be part of the village he grew up in again.
Honestly, I think he didn't change at all.
Yeah, lets forget he:
-killed the 3rd Hokage
- used Suna to attack Konoha
- abducted & experimented on several people before having to flee
- joined Akatsuk
- founded his own village where he continued to abduct, manipulate & experiment
Thank god Orochimaru survived & can continue to follow his goals despite all his crimes. There is no way of him tricking/ overpowering the people observing him

He’s neutral at most. He just wants to be able to conduct his experiments and learn as much as he can. He’s a huge benefit to the leaf and it’s not likes he’s out buying groceries and people actually see him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually became a legend

no matter how many times i watch this, its always suigetsu's reaction that makes me laugh. with Orochimaru, its like "seriously! out of all the things ive done, they still didnt upgrade my rank" and with suigetsu's response is like "really? out of all the autographs in the world, you want his autograph?"
Orochimaru literally murdered 2 world leaders and desecrated their ancestors and the village itself. And they just make him a card in a game. Can you imagine if you could play as the guy who assassinated JFK?
In a way he actually saved all the hokage from an eternity in the stomach of the Reaper. Though that sorta was his fault in the first place lol. Well except for the Fourth. So overall his desecrations worked out for the positive.
It's a pretty militarized universe. Death is expected, and it's likely not helpful or reasonable to hold too many grudges. As long as the 3rd bit it in battle then it's probably fine.

I also think it depends on the manner of death. The 3rd was killed in the line of duty, while Sasuke thought his family was massacred.

I actually love how Orochimaru improved in time. This made him a more likeable character and a villain no more.

Duolingo is an app used to learn different languages. That’s why they said that, but it was pretty stupid to add it since duolingo most likely wouldn’t teach you that.

His pride has been utterly stripped away because he now lives in a universe of morons.

strictly speaking Orochimaru is not a villain anymore. Although they do brush off his hundreds of crimes a bit too easily. Would have liked to see him have a better redemption arc to deal with his past sins.

@@t.thomas8919 Exactly. Orochimaru's thing was that he was so obsessed with learning Jutsu he was willing to cross any line to do it. He wanted the Sharingan so badly because of it's ability to copy Jutsu. So ... where did all that obsession go?
I can buy that Orochimaru would chill out if he just dealt with his obsession. But we don't get a good enough character arc to show him losing that obsession. Instead it's like "oh I guess I don't need to learn all jutsu in the world after all".
