Let's be honest though, they all deserve to charge more money. $5 for an edit is madness when you think about how long these things really take.
They charge 5$ to get reviews specially if they are new vendor. It shame how Konstaten paid that rate.
I absolutely agree, this is waaay less than minimum wage in the UK (and probably elsewhere in the free world). The film making business is undermined if you can't even afford to buy a pizza with the proceeds of your work and talent at this rate.
Bro, they don't deserve more than that tbh because they just chose a nice song and added clips without any transitions and all. This all can be learnt in less than a hour by any person. It was too basic, song choice matters yes but the edit itself should be good too.
Those transitions you said you’re not a fan of, as someone with no experience video editing I think they add a cool extra dimension to the edit, but I fully get why you wouldn’t be into them if they don’t require much skill.
As i am a GFX Designer i think every Designer has there own style and i think it's the same for editors
I think there's a time and place for everything. This was a brand deal type video that needs to look a bit more professional and they just didn't hold up on the clean factor like it could have potentially done. I don't believe the guy did a bad job, I think his style is just more meant for something a bit more relaxed.

Kon is really underrated hes one of my favorite youtubers for a reason. Because hes not telling you to BUY HIS MERCH LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE and he is really good at editing and i find it really entertaining
There are so many TH-camrs that are underated and it does suck that they don't get the recognition they deserve.

Are you sure the left in watermark wasn't intentional? There's so much effort been put in to that edit, that to miss the watermark, seems odd. The whole angle of it was lo-fi and disruptive. One example being the obviously left in transparent background. That transparent background is obvious to you, a creative, but not to the layman. I reckon that particular editor just took things to the next level by leaving in the watermark, with an intentional 'who gives a f***' style.
Also could be that the first revision is just the 'idea'. They probably felt it wasn't worth it to pay for the image yet if the buyer hasn't confirmed they like the effects/cut. Most likely they'd deliver without the watermark.

i think your analysis of "cheapening" the edit is valid, however it break convention in a way that I don't personally mind and anything to step away from "perfect" timing and pacing is a breath of fresh air for me

The last guy is very talented. That one is the one that really sold the brand. Great track with that buildup and then a really neat drop. Some really awesome shots in there, really felt like a proper professional advertisement you’d see on TV or TH-cam.

Interesting - I think 3 and 5 are in the similar category however 6 stands out to me more as a professional commercial feel as opposed to something with lots of trendy TH-cam effects

We can't tell how much footage he gave to the editors, but I believe it's not longer then a hour right? Watching the clips for a couple minutes enough to get the idea what kind of song will suit, you find it (can be 1 sec or even hour) and then the editing, the one for 5$ was just the clips and no color correction if I remember right so its 1 hour of editing.
