Neil was such an underrated songwriter - the missing link between the Beatles and the Pythons and linking the two. Bonzos, solo, Rutles.... he did just astonishing work. How Sweet to Be an Idiot is still one of my fav. But this one (cool version here!) is exactly as great.

it's Halsall on the records, too ... indeed, a truly underrated talent!! there's a recording of him dueling with Holdsworth as he was replacing him in Tempest - he's great at mimicking different styles of players!!

@@GaryWayneHill64 It's fair, because it's on a record on top of the movie. Not many people would have bought that record if it wasn't for the Beatles' input. People have been sued for way tinier than this by the music industry. I'm glad that this is now settled and even the Beatles themselves are paying their respects for the late Neil Innes.
Neil Innes said he was credited with Lennon/ McCartney / Innes, but that he wasn't equally entitled to the credit as such. So the songs were basically credited to Lennon / McCartney, which he found very funny. To think that Lennon / McCartney would be credited with writing the likes of Cheese and Onions. Anyway it all seemed to get sorted with a lot less hassle than what George Harrison had to go through.
Thanks to Neil Innes and the Rutles we have the Beatles' songs the Beatles forgot to write.
