Recently, God had given me a vision to start a school. I was excited scared, and overwhelmed because I didn't know what to do and how to start. I just received my tax exempt status and business accounts together.I was begging the Lord. To please send me some help, guidance and wisdom. And your video popped up on my feed. You are such a blessing and God sent ..And I'm also located in GA
I love what you are doing, Cindy. I have been in teaching all my adult life, started in deep urban Philly elementary and now at the college level. I am very interested in educational empowerment and needed change to help give the coming generations a boost and close the gaps the exist! Starting a school or some kind of new "system" is a dream, but somewhat daunting! Kudos to you! You rock, girl!
Thank you so much for sharing! I've been wanting to do this in my home state for a few years now. I'm nervous to start because I'm not a teacher just a mom who has a child with learning disabilities. I home schooled her & several other kids to help bring them on grade level. We need a school like this in my home town. Each child learns at a different pace.
May I ask what state? Maybe you can partner with someone who has a masters. Most states have some funding for kids who have an IEP to attend alternative schools including private. I really think more parents should consider other alternatives, at least until their child catches up…at least.
Thanks for sharing this information is so valuable. I was discouraged at the thought of the idea but after watching this i feel i can do it. Thanks so much
Thanks and congrats to you on your choice and achievement. My goal is to start a all working together society and community in spiritual levels and consistent in the natural provider of education for jobs to self sustain. Good job and wish me luck. Thanks
Excellent video... (I'm getting the hang of it now) Is there another video after this one... you mentioned "money" Thank you for sharing this great video.
Oh my goodness this information was so helpful. I have been wanting to start my own school for a while, but had no idea how easy it was to start. How do you get funding after the initial process starts?
4:00 they should have worded it as "Accreditation not required." Which means something entirely different than what the document says; "No requirements for accreditation." 😂 I'm thankful you explained it!
I’ve just come across this video tonight as I searched how to start a private school in Georgia. Really great content and you have answered all of my questions. However, I need a little clarity. If I have a non-profit organization already, do I still need to secure a business license for my school separate from my nonprofit? My school will be “for profit”.
Great!!! So if your school will be for profit then that is a different business and you will need a license to do business in your area under that business.
I'm SO grateful for your videos!!!THANK YOU CINDY! In another video you mentioned that someone with a master's degree must run the school. Can this be done remotely, perhaps with 1 annual or 2 semiannual visits to the school ? Meaning the person works from home maybe even in another part of the state but physically comes to check on the school once or twice a year? Speaking in regards to those not accredited (or both. Not accredited and Accredited if you know) thanks!!!
Non accredited you can do almost what you want. There may be some provisions for accredited schools depending on the accrediting body and or your state.
This is so interesting. I have not seen anything else like this. This is the first video I have watched in this series. I plan to go back and watch the rest. My only experience working in a private school was over the summer. (It was not a great experience but I am the only person I know that didn’t have a good experience in a private school.) I would like to hear more about what you look for in a teacher. What type of learning do you see when you go into classes. What is it like to be the owner of a school? How is a school for special needs students different than a school for mixed groups of learners? (Forgive me if they are answered in the previous videos.). I really enjoyed this and I look forward to more videos on this topic. 👍
No apologies needed! Awesome questions. These are such detail questions that I think I will include them in one of my upcoming videos in this series. Thanks for your feedback Hot for Teacher.

I want to do a online school teaching new technicians hvac or future techs. I plan to make it open source/free knowledge just to help people. Would getting accredited still be worth it? I don't plan to make money off it
Hey Cindy, I am also in the process of opening my own private school for children with special needs. I’m stuck between a nonprofit and a profit. I have been so scared due to all the irs, and not being able to pay myself as a nonprofit, having board members and other things. Can you please give me some more info on that please.
Unless you are well backed, I think non-profit is the way to go. You CAN pay yourself. I am both the founder and director, I get paid as the director. It’s just a few rules you will have to learn but it’s a myth that you can’t get paid as a non-profit.
The director position is budgeted in just like teachers. I fulfill that position so I am paid for it. Does that make sense? I wasn’t quite sure how to answer it.
Building, but everyone’s journey is different and it just depends what resources you are working with. Are interested in starting a school? You should join our FB group called Teachers Interested in Starting A school. We give lots of information and feedback on the process.
Great question! So, as a founder you don’t have to have a Masters degree however, it’s a qualification to have it if you are the one running the school by the accredited agency. So in other words the accrediting agency required it as a part of accreditation.
My school idea is kind of unique. I am starting a sports journalism school. You can go to my page and see a couple of videos. I just need to know which way to go with it.

What about a religious base school
I want to do a online school teaching new technicians hvac or future techs. I plan to make it open source/free knowledge just to help people. Would getting accredited still be worth it? I don't plan to make money off it
Does Texas have something like this?
so Cindy, when you decide to get accredited, will the agency send a consultant or do you have to seek out someone from the agency and pay them?
Great video! Do you have your 501c3 status? If not; why did you decide not to move forward to that stage?
I do!!
I just want to asked if you want start own school do you need to be qualified educational or just if you have money...
It all depend on the state, but in most you don’t have to have specific education especially if you are not getting accredited.

Pretty impressive!!! Do it! It could have an engineering theme... that would be an awesome niche.

What is that website link? Does this all apply to an online only school?
This is for a traditional school. Many things will be the same although I am no expert in that.
@@CindyTheLDCoach Thanks
I was told that I had to start a non accredited school because I'm not a teacher with a degree is that true?
So, remember each state makes their own rules; however, in my state that isn’t true. What state are you in?
@@CindyTheLDCoach texas
Do you know the requirements to start up your own college? I don't care what state really I just want to start a college
I don’t! But that would be an awesome idea. I imagine lots of money and those who hold doctorates would be involved.
