Once i seen this cinematic i was convinced the light is just as corruptive as the void. And I didnt blame Illidan one bit for destroying Xera because she is not God so she has no right to force a fate on someone else especially when they are not willing. So she got what she deserved.

that's the misleading part the light doesn't automatically mean good, just cuz it is holy or bright. The naru tried to force Illidan into something he doesn't want against his will just to follow some Prophecy and make him a servant of the light. The light works that aslong as you believe you are doing good the light will empower you and make you powerfull. But the Scarlet crusade are big followers of the light and have paladins, they slaughter and kill innocents because they believe what they are doing are for the greater good, when they are actually big assholes. Another example of this is when Arthas, who was great paladin and follower of the light before being corrupted. He During Stratholme had to make a hard choice of killing innocents in order to save many other innocents, before they turn to zombies and will kill others. Because Arthas started to doubt and was unsure of what he was doing was right, as he obviously didn't like killing his own people, the light started to leave him.
The naaru are not inherently good. The LIght is even worse than the Void. When you play the Mag'har Orc unlock quest you see that the LIght has "corrupted" Draenor. If someone will not accept than he must destroyed.
The lesson there is... that blindly following something is wrong. Naru wasn't really all that pure/good in my opinion either. Manipulating and forcing someones free will... is kind of evil. Illidan proved that to the prophet... and he also proved that you are stronger when you really believe in what you think is RIGHT and you should make an effort to set things right yourself.
The naruu is a servant of the light but the light arent necessary the good guys, specially in wartime. If the naruu was helbent on changing illidan then i doubt hed have killed her.
Someone not taking no for an answer and trying to force their will onto you is never „good“, even if it’s a Naaru. ^^ And that’s coming from a paladin main. xD
Xe'ra was good until she tried to force the light on Illidan, then she was bad. Just like the Light Forge Draenei forcing the light on the Mag'nar. Those sparkly space goats aren't good anymore
I'm one of the people that hated this one. It's good that Illidan would reject the gift of the Naaru, that is keeping with his character. But to kill it? When you're about to wage war against the strongest forces of the Legion? Is monumentally stupid. Also the fact that he just one shots a demi God is levels of power that even Illidan shouldn't have, it's really not correct. Then 5 mins later Turalyon, who has fought in name of the Naaru for 1000s of years, and Velen, who has been guided by the Naaru for 10s of thousands of years, and the entire army of the light are just like "eh whatever so what are we doing next Illidan?" So, so poorly written imo.
@@HPblu3 Well the character that they called Illidan in Legion was not the Illidan from warcraft 3. Turned from bitter and powerhungry into all knowing and wise good guy in legion. It just doesn't work for me. I don't know how he was in-game but in the cinematics he just seems ridiculous.

In warcraft 3 the only motive Illidan really had was because Tyrande said so. There was no greater picture, for what he did. In Burning crusade expansion he goes into defensive against the Legion, because Kil'jaeden isn't happy that Illidan failed to destroy the Frozen Throne. It says in the game that he is creating new fel orcs for this defense by using the blood of imprisoned Magtheridon. These fel orcs ofc was for the greater good and absolutely saved the whole Azeroth in Legion, right? Also if he was all knowing all along he wouldn't have fought us in the Black temple because him being imprisoned/dead isn't good for the whole defeating the Legion thingie. Also in game it is implied that Illidan is actually losing he's mind, after defeating Illidans demons and blood elves he yells to the player "So you have defeated the Crimson Sigil. You now seek to challenge my rule? Not even Arthas could defeat me, yet you dare to even harbor such thoughts? Then I say to you, come! Come ! The Black Temple awaits..." Ofc we all know that Illidan was absolutely destroyed by Arthas, so he is either losing he's mind or just plain lying. Also wowwiki still clearly says that Illidan died in the Black temple but this was changed in Legion to him just passing out.
