Reading alot lately of Harley Davidson problems. This here is the source of those problems. First, and this one Harley has been told about for years. They never build entry level machines, so they lost out on that revenue. They had some great years selling bolt together custom Harleys, but the Baby boomers and their money is moving on. And this is were the failure of building those entry level bike comes back to haunt them. Riders are changing. Not just the young, who are all over the sports bike seen . Older guys like me who have own and rode the same HD FL since 1975, are finding that pulling the old girl out for a hop around town isn't as much fun as it once was . I myself much prefer riding my Triumph Bonniville. For that kind of riding. Like it was when I first started out riding. And so I've noticed in the last few years other guys my age , stepping back, picking up an old Honda , Yamaha , any of those tank badges from the late sixties early seventies. And riding them,,,again. The Harleys still get used, sometimes.
Had a European spec 1970 CB350A (10hp more than US model) and miss riding it but the CL suspension looks far superior! Especially on the East African roads I was on at that time.
Your left side head pipe is showing blueing. This is due to excessive heat in that cylinder due to improper jetting on the carburetor. Normally guys would put aftermarket drag pipes on and not re- jet the carbs. This would create the same blueing effect.
I'm aware and this was blue when I received the bike last year. I worked as a mechanic in the late 70s and 80s (Honda , Yamaha dealer). This can also be caused by a rich condition (leaving the choke on while riding). The bike sat for over 15 years and prior to that was most likely messed with to try and get it running. The bottom of the carbs were a huge mess. I suspect with things not right , they could eventually get it running and drive it with the choke left in the "on" position. This ends up sending unburned fuel into the pipes where it finishes the burn and generates extra heat that the chrome does not like. Thanks for your observation. Mike

I had the 75 cb 360. Same color. Wished i still had it.
