Even though they're divorced now. Tracy's ex husband Robert Preston always cared about his ex wife. Finally getting past the fact that it was Tracy who cheated on Robert when they were married. And now with Robert dead. Tracy now has her husband Steve McDonald their daughter Amy's father to care about her and be over protective of Tracy and Amy. That's what a husband and father usually does for his family. If things were different before Robert's death then maybe Tracy and Robert would have been again.
