To many people who don’t live in Coventry this video probably won’t mean a lot, but to me it’s amazing to see what life was life back then. People dressed smart, the roads were clean, life looked better…I’m glad you recorded this footage for us all to see 30+ years later, thank you 🙏🏼 amazing stuff…
I agree with other comments on here. It is amazing to see how Coventry has changed. The 80's being such a memorable decade. Some beautiful cars on the road. Too young to drive then. Thank you for the videos.
Great stuff John - I have linked this to the Historic Coventry Forum for our members to see if OK. Great to see pre Sky Blue Way with the end of Ford Street still intact plus the Gosford St/Paynes Lane junction as it was with the White Lion
2,48 mins that shop just barely in sight was janjuas save a lot , And the original army navy surplus store , I went to st Mary’s school behind it. , knocked down ages ago now.
On the contrary, Far Gosford Street and Gosford Green are completely different now. The main stretch of FGS isn't much different, but the ends are. There are many completely different buildings, and lots got demolished for Sky Blue Way. Compare it on Google Maps and the differences are huge.

Thank you for the videos.
Gosford Street and Gosford Green look so different. So many buildings are gone, especially where Sky Blue Way now is.
Thanks so such for this ❤ I saw the Eclipse
Excellent, thanks for uploading! I was 18 in '87 and grew up in Hillfields!
Ah...the 80's.
Seems a long time ago now 🤣
Glad you enjoyed it
Interesting to see the old garage and those boarded up houses where sky blue way sits today thanks for the upload

It was a mate of mine who lived in Gosford Green.

I went to St Mary’s too, ‘84 to ‘92. Think it was knocked down around 2002, thereabouts.
Same here. 🥲
Wow I had a Saturday job at Ford st car sales in 1981, great to see again as all gone now.
The only view you see on the ring road now is student buildings!
Excellent
Memories!
I passed my test in 1980. It seems a lifetime ago now that the roads were that quiet...
Riddys next door to White lion full of surplus ww2 army kit ..picked up Denison smock for 2 quid I remember 😂
Apart from the cars and buses, it doesn’t look much different from now, although theres a lot more boarded up houses

The amount times I was drunk in the White lion in 85
