This puts a smile on my face seeing how happy the kids are when you were playing Luthang with the kid. It's even more amusing see how amused the Filipino adults were over you playing Luthang haha.
I grew up playing this, we even have luthang with magazine we called it "Rapiti" the ammo is a unripe papaya. We were like gangsters back then, every zone here in our barangay is either enemy or ally. The streets will be filled with so many kids and some adults too when we were having war with other zones. lmfao!
Damn, that sounds lit. In my era we used to play air guns with plastic bullets, now that hurts a lot lol. And we used to play against kids from other village too. Hahaha good old days.
Mikaél Rence Luthang hurts like air gun, sometimes we even put chili to our ammo when it hits you/enemy you've no choice but to go home and wash it off, because when you sweat it will spread on your skin. We also have those tiny coconut ammo, you do not want to get hit with those because it hurts and very itchy.. hahaha!
+g7enn89 That fuck? What a savage 😂 I remember one of my childhood playmate once got chili in their skin and they just can't stop crying through the pain. Lol
I use Copras bala, but I was band because it can cause bleeding and your skin is pilling off when u get hit. I soak my papa bullets in water inside a 2litter RC Cola and leave it overnight this made the papaya harden. using a silencer helps your Luthang from breaking on rapped firing. I use a broken umbrella to shape my long ammo (green papaya). My papaya luthang has the quick changing mag cause its faster to change a loaded mag than loading when you run out. I carry 6 fully loaded magazine for quick reload. My friends when we attack we always stick together and when we attack we focus on 1person per mag and then more to the next person. Other team are quick learner and copy our style. but when they change we step up our game and form 3 person team ^^ which makes them cry. Next story kulas use a Tirador
*When I was a kid, I loved that game a lot! I wish I can go back to the Philippines, I'm in Australia now. But I'll go back and play that game again! I wish its still fun!!!*
Brings back lots of memories... back in the days we used another type of Luthang... the one with Magazines and " Young Papaya" as ammo's.. also there's another type of homemade Toy guns we used back in the days it looks harmless but in reality it's kinda deadly.. one with "Soft drink Bottle Caps' as ammo.. just imagine if you get hit.. with the Cap's serrated edge..someone is bound to go home bloody.. and we used cartons as body armor..
I can't comprehend why there are dislikes in the video. This is pure innocence at its finest. Great vid always Kulas! Thanks for all your effort in showcasing our country.
this is classic though... i grew up playing with this, lol. Great to know, this is still played in this generation. Kulas, you put a smile on my face everytime I see your videos
We also have it in Malaysia. If we don't have bamboo, we use plastic shells of pen. For the projectiles, we either use wet paper, the shell of Lansium parasiticum, some fruits i'm not familiar with, or the evil most option: the young fruits of betelnut trees (because it will cause severe skin irritation).
I'm from the Philippines and I know how to make and use that luthang, but from us in Iligan city, we don't need a spit/ Laway we use water to a best shot and pops like a real gun.😀
Kyle Jennermann , a lot of games in the Philippines 🇵🇭 Kulas , like Tumba lata, Shatom, Dakpanay, Tago tago an, i know a lot of traditional games in my country, c'est dommage que je sois en Europe, and you know, where is this language! Here in Capiz, we call it "Palupok". That's a very good bamboo gun. We also do it with a magazine bamboo with papaya bullets. Hehehe #ChildhoodToysInPh
I used to escape class just to catch up in time with groups of children going out to cut bamboo trees in the bush, and out on the beaches playing ‘’peng peng’’ (hide & seek) ...🇸🇧 Solomon Islands 🌴...much of reminiscing when I show you (Kulas) had experienced it in the Philippines 🇵🇭 ..✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
Ohhh I miss playing with this I am a girl but since I grew up surrounded with many boys in our town so I kinda blend with them and play different native games, it was so fun.
3 types of LUTHANG 1st Regular 2nd Magazine the one that got magazine u can fired many times with papaya or other 3rd is made with Athena with Kabilya bala copras/Gelimina etc
Its luthang (lut hang) in bisaya, tagalogs call it differently. There is semi auto version of this with a magazine, uses unripe papaya fruit for ammo, great fun, brings back the memories. Thanks kulas! ^_^
in Mindoro and some ka-Tagalugan, it's called paltok, we can use thin bamboo, pen ink straws, thin hard straws(from juice pouches, Zest-O), and our ammo can be made from crumpled paper wetted with saliva, papaya, Santol
I used to play that to and my mother got mad because that’s for boys hahaha. And we had dozens of games. My childhood was full of joy and fulfillment living in the village.i enjoy watching Colas.

I hope you've found out that you have to have one already in the chamber and then you load another wad in and that will create a high pressure area within the luthang that will launch the previously loaded wad out. :)
I Played that when I was a kid we call it palsoot in ilocano. We flatten the tip of the bamboo rod by pounding to a rock then spit to lubricate so that there are more compression to the bamboo tube. We used ipil-ipil flower as a bullet and we also put the top of an empty gin bottle cut with hot wire like a funnel to amplify the sound at the tip of the barrel like a muzzle of a gun and the sound is so loud. Lots of fun in our younger years.
Nice but there is also a magazine type of luthang using unripe papaya mould with a thin sheet from tin cans or what so ever depends on the size of the shaft..using rubber to push through the long moulded papaya on the magazine bamboo cylinder.. amazing gun...lol
Dude my uncles used to make Luthang but they shaped it into a "T". So your using two bamboos. They load with papayas so it's a long ammo you have and you keep pushing and pulling and ammos shoot non stop!! It was awesome
Some kids in the urban areas dont even know what real happiness means.....being a kid. They just live with their gaddamn electronic gadgets and cellphones.....what a pitty. Enjoy kulas....filipino kids are awesome!
We used to play that when we were children including a toy gun made of wood using soda bottle's cap crown as bullets using rubber as the piston. We called it "bala tapun" in Bisaya.
this is how you teach kids war... in some nights in our street, you'd see 30 to 50 children doing war. man the traffic. it doesn't really need it to be spit though. they soak a whole newspaper and crumple them to a ball as ammunition on the road.
War games for elementary...water gun..sumpak.. in the river we also had the grenade war..basically with river mud..throwing..i miss being a kid..we had the slingshot war...if your cannot tolerate the pain then this game is not for you
in mactan, we loaded it with the kandingkanding fruit, and it's really painful when you are hit. my brother also devised a luthang gun with a magazine loaded with kandingkanding fruits.
So bascially a homemade/ natural made painball gun... thats cool. This is the first time seeing something fun that is analogous to paintball gun matches.
