Nic Hills I personally don't care if I had to age 30 years in order to go back to the 90s I just want to go back man. I was born 95 but I remember snipets of how culture was in about 97-2000. It felt so good man idk if it was because I was child and it was all so new
Born in 1980, I remember the years 1989-1992 as pretty cool years. Street Fighter II was THE hit on the SNES! ... Unfortunaly I had a SEGA, but the S.C.E.-Version made me happy then. :D Good old times. Guile = best character!
I was 17½ in the summer of '92, and bought this game when it first came out. I'd been playing Street Fighter II, both The World Warrior and Champion Edition, in the arcade for about the past year, and as soon as I heard people at the arcade talking about how it was coming out for the SNES, I went and bought an SNES and patiently waited for SFII to be released. That original copy I bought new for about $50 in '92 is long gone, but I just got another copy in the mail today from eBay. I don't really need it, because I've had an SFII: The World Warrior arcade machine for the past 11 years, which is obviously superior (and the arcade controls are superior to a gamepad as well), but it does have a few things that are unique to it, and also, the hardest difficulty setting (level 7) is significantly harder than the hardest DIP switch setting on the arcade machine (also level 7), especially with regard to M. Bison.
30 + years later and now we’re on SF6 which has the original 8 world warriors. Feels like old friends coming together, reminiscing and having a fun time.
Street Fighter II. The one game that took fighting games by storm in the early to mid 90s. The one game that revolutionized fighting games that we know and love to this day. And the game that created a generation of fans worldwide. And because it was so popular and successful, it was also the game that spawned many clones made by other companies. Some of which did rather well, and some which failed miserably. But nevertheless, Street Fighter II has withstood the test of time.

My Ideal version of Street Fighter 2 would be the base game of Super Street Fighter (not turbo) for SNES, with the music from this version (SNES), with an Akuma battle AFTER you defeat M. Bison that takes place in a unique stage.
Goodness the hours I put into this. Nothing like a Saturday morning, waking up and firing this game up. I can't remember it, but I'd always input the Capcom code that I think unlocked the bosses to play. Ryu was my favorite. Vega was the one boss I always had trouble with (and frustrating) because the chickenshit would always climb the cage when his health got low. Timing a 'Shoryuken' dragon punch just right to counter Vega's devastating suplex was always difficult for me.

Lovely upload. This game took over my LIFE! I became utterly obsessed with it. Learning and then mastering the Dragon Punch was all I cared about. Till it gets to the point no one wants to play you anymore 'cause they constantly lose. SF2 Turbo on the Snes I think is the ultimate version of the game. I love Street Fighter 4 but Turbo, I dunno, seems purer. Could just be nostalgia talking, I guess.....
I was in 7th grade when this came out and this game was what made me beg my parents for a SNES. If I remember correctly, this cartridge was around $70 and $70 back in 1992 is probably $90-100 in today's money. That meant skipping a lot of lunches at school to save up for this. LOL. They tried to say it was expensive because it needed so much memory at an incredible 16mb. Now we look at that and laugh as our cell phone pictures are larger than that. LOL.
I was born in 1996 so I mostly grew up with N64 and GameCube. But as far as the technical limitations, at the time of release the snes and genesis were cutting edge. People today will scoff at this machine, but with older game systems you have to understand that was cutting edge for its time, and that they are the stepping stones for newer and more powerful consoles today. It's more about appreciating it's place in game history rather than looking at how inferior it is to newer consoles. The snes is the great great granddaddy of the Wii U and the son of the NES, and has its part in the systems we have today.
uff... in that time having that game in your house you were the king of all... since you had a game so popular in arcades and you have it in your own home... those were good times :'3
@@freddybeer - Whats your problem? SEGA had these wonderful 6-button-controllers, 3 buttons low, 3 buttons high, worked perfect. Never had any problems with that. Now try to do a whirlwind-kick with strongest kick on SNES: left thumb cross plus left finger shoulder-button? No thanks.
Actually, it's left thumb cross + right index finger shoulder button (R button). Aaaaand there's a manual button input config. in the option mode section. I've never played the SEGA version, though. I'm just stating what I know about the SNES one. :)

The iconic SF2 intro music along with all the other track is rendered SOOOOOOO much better on the SNES than any other version including the original arcade version. Weirdly it is the only version that differs from the arcade coin op and is enhanced on the SNES, i wish there was another version on a newer console with the same SNES music for all the iconic tracks.
Oh what memories i remember me and my brothers playing this for hours and we would end up fighting each other for real because getting frustrated losing
And they say video games make children violent. Whoever says that doesn't know what they are talking about. Some children are violent by nature, they just need some incentive. 😂 And nobody likes losing anyway.

My buddy in Hawaii bought the Super Famicom version of this game and a converter for $130 back in '92. This was before the American version came out yet the import sold like hotcakes, even for that price. The island of Oahu had a strong following for SF2 in those days, sometimes having four or five machines in one arcade alone. I eventually bought the import as well, then later an arcade joystick of great quality.

Till it gets to the point no one wants to play you anymore 'cause they constantly lose. SF2 Turbo on the Snes I think is the ultimate version of the game. I love Street Fighter 4 but Turbo, I dunno, seems purer. Could just be nostalgia talking, I guess.....
freddybeer, you just spoiled a secret move, Can you put spoiler alerts next time.
You're right, my bad! Lol!!!!
Playing this in 1993 before school and sitting in school then unconcentrated, could think of music and sho-ryu-ken only.
That’s the first time I’ve ever seen someone uppercutting a Car Bumper!!
It must have hurt... for the bumper.
God Bless You for this post. I used to tear my neighbor hood friends up with Ryu
The deep words at the end basically confirming Ryu is just a hooligan at heart and in it for the violence.
Inspiring 90s kids the world over.
😂 You must be kidding.
The moment this game dropped was the moment Nintendo won the 16-bit wars.
Ahem...Streets of Rage 2 for the Sega!
@@edwardgaines6561 Not even close to being on Street Fighters level. SF had all the built-in fans from the arcades.
@Ricardo Jaye - It was common knowledge the SNES version was miles better! And good luck trying to do a dragon punch on those Megadrive controllers!
best memories as a kid was playing this game and before this was super Mario contra, double dragon, mega man
ah every sound brings back memories
Indeed. A true classic.
Ryu: HEY VEGA YOU DID WELL BUT NOT ENOUGHT TO DEFEAT ME
VEGA: dude i can't even touch you...
yep this game and all those nostalgic soundtrack bring me back so many good memories!!
Remind me of the laundromat days when they had arcades in there.
Love how you let the title screen music run. 😂 Anyway, great play through!
I wish he hadn't! Ryu was born in 1964?! Holy crap he's 55 now.
The iconic SF2 intro music along with all the other track is rendered SOOOOOOO much better on the SNES than any other version including the original arcade version. Weirdly it is the only version that differs from the arcade coin op and is enhanced on the SNES, i wish there was another version on a newer console with the same SNES music for all the iconic tracks.
alaslawi The only theme that sounds better on the SNES is Guile's.
@@GW_01 ALL the themes sound better on the SNES version.
@@donaldshrump9168 Definitely not Ken’s.
2:25 Peter Griffin vs Mr Washee Washee
Oh what memories i remember me and my brothers playing this for hours and we would end up fighting each other for real because getting frustrated losing
And they say video games make children violent. Whoever says that doesn't know what they are talking about. Some children are violent by nature, they just need some incentive. 😂 And nobody likes losing anyway.
I remember not wanting to wait for the U.S. release that my brother and I saved our money to get the early release in Japan . It cost us $140.00!!
That's a lot of money! But congrats!
Jesus this brings back so many memories. 1992,1993 I played this game to death when I was 12. Great times.
Damn! Two perfects on Vega, and on the hardest skill level... You rule, man!
*****
Dude YOU ARE FUCKING PRO
it took me always 30 Minutes to beat Vega and Sagat Each..
AND YOU .. did them Perfect? .. DA FUCK o.O
me too .. i play Street Fighter since 1992 ^^
Good Guy OP kept the opening song till it ends. God Bless him for this.
I remember the first time I got to rent this game on SNES, it was such a new and exciting experience. Don't get that feeling about a lot of things anymore.
I know that feel. That's a bit sad, though.
2014 still fucking loving this game
0:43 STILL ONE OF THE BEST CHARACTER SELECTS MUSIC ON ANY CONSOLE, BACK WHEN MY DAD WOULD RENT VIDEO GAMES AT HOME BOX OFFICE IN GRIFFITH INDIANA #SNES
The FIRST version of Street Fighter II...
Chévere este juego ese tiempo tenía 11 anos, mi hermano pagaba alquiler de super nintendo de un amigo de 8a 10 de la noche jugábamos mis hermanos y yo buenos recuerdos
I liked the way you completely obliterated Vega.
Sooooooo many memories playing this with my brother!!!
Music is making me tingle
An awesome soundtrack.
Arcade Version:
You must defeat sheng long to stand a chance
SNES Version:
You must defeat my Dragon Punch to stand a chance
Sheng Long remains undefeated!
