Wondering if you (or anyone) knows about the history on these types of sirens? 🤔 are they relatively new? I like how some of the older sirens sometimes will give me a comforting nostalgic vibe. Even tho sirens are associated with life changing events, the good memories outweigh the rough ones for me on this. Takes me down Memory Lane, remembering playing in the neighborhood tree fort and us kids hearing the sirens blaring. "Let's watch the Lightening in my garage until my paranoid mom makes us all go into the basement" 😂 &then us all jumping on our bikes and biking home as fast as our 6 speed bikes could take us in the warm summer evenings with a slightly chilly breeze, with the "tornado green" tint in the atmosphere, with warm giant raindrops falling on us. This siren for some reason gives me a strange eerie feeling 🙃 maybe from a movie or something 🤷♀️
It looks like a honey stick or some sort of bee hive. There’s one of these close to where I live but I never understood how it worked cuz I can’t see where the speakers are. Also I discovered your channel after seeing you had an interview with ABC 10 Sacramento.
there are 2 thunderbolt 1000s in Austin, too. Also a secret STH-10, all inactive I believe. It's pretty cool tho, I wonder what other non-UT sirens are lurking in Austin. ( link to my ARS thread about it: www.airraidsirens.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=27723 ) I didn't know it was dual-tone, too. I thought it was a simple single-tone UV. I also thought it was just DSAs until a few weeks ago.
