      Gym and all others are great ideas, but if someone cannot sleep, it is not the same when helps for someone to the gym. I am awake many times for 38 hours, so reading books etc., is a great idea that doesn't make any sense to me.
      No one tells you to diabetics just start creating insulin.

    Sleep will come yes. Just two hours before you have to wake up for work. As a sleep specialist i expect you to know its not that simple

    For 35 years I've been struggling with falling asleep, but this video solved it. I can't believe the solution to my problems was as simple as turning the lights off! This is the greatest life hack since closing my eyes and laying down.

    I've had horrible sleep for 20 yrs. I've tried everything. Doctors have tried. Chewable gummie melatonin have finally given me the sleep I've needed. I don't think you know enough about insomnia.

    Here in sweden we get very little light honestly. We can go months without seeing the sun, so we need vitamin D/melatonin pills. i use melatonin maby a few days a week, depends on the day.

    I have ADHD. A dark room and a book (if that really worked) would have saved me years of missing morning University classes and losing jobs if it were that simple. I had several sleep studies done before I was diagnosed. Vyvanse out of everything has been the thing that has regulated my sleep. I do take a variation of herbal supplements to help calm me at night too.
    Give people some that are suffering with sleep issues and disorders some deeper solutions. It can be really invalidating and frustrating to be told to have hot cup of tea, take a bath, and having a dark room to help you sleep when you’ve tried everything and nothing works. There is nothing worse than not being able to sleep.

    It’s so easy to tell someone sleep well. When because I’ve been getting about two hours sleep every night for the past three weeks and I still haven’t crashed yet. I wake up in a crappy mood because I didn’t get enough sleep. No energy, exhausted, fatigue And brain fog.

    So melatonin is harmless, but we shouldn’t take it? 🤷‍♂️coming from someone like myself, an ex-meth addict, insomniac, who hasn’t caught a good night of good sleep in 8 years, I can testify that melatonin has changed my life, alongside healthy daily habits/recovery goals of course. Just throwing that out there for anyone struggling.

    And if you have a job, don't worry, you will be constantly late or absent, probably lose your job and maybe your home and family, but do not worry, that will only stop you sleeping, just read a book, your boss will understand and be patient I am sure 👍😃

      I have similar issues . I’m so far trying to avoid any meds . I am taking khasskhass for past few days . This is poppyseeds available in Indian grocery stores in USA. Hoping for best .

    wrong. i have adhd. i DO need medication to feel hungry and thirsty, otherwise i genuinely forget to eat for days until i am genuinely starving. just because you personally don't like pills doesn't mean they're unnecessary. you seem like a "specialist" who has never personally suffered from insomnia and is dismissing the severity of it.

    I run 7 miles every morning, eat as clean as possible and have trouble falling and staying asleep.
    I can tell you, that just getting sunlight and making the house dark, doesn’t work for everyone.
    If I wasn’t in the military, I’d try CBD and THC but that’s not an option. I’m scared to take pills due to dependency issues.
    Wish he would recommend a natural remedy 😢

    Im so glad i found your channel. My dr prescribed melatonin to me. Im not addicted to it. I told My dr that i didnt want the strong stuff. Melatonin is okey but nowadays i read alot before going to sleep it really does help ❤

When u can't sleep , eventually u get stressed over not getting some sleep and this makes u more sleepless. So what he wanna say is make the lights dim and just read some book ( never use screen)and don't panic about getting some sleep. Just relax carry on with reading that book, or saying some prayers in your heart (whichever relegion u belong to) or just think about some movie or story , think of a diff ending to that😅 get yourself involved in there and eventually u will get asleep. It definitely won't happen on the first try, but ur brain will learn that!

    Lmao does this guy not realize I spend hours just laying in a dark room doing nothing but thinking about “damn why can’t I sleep”.. seriously inconceivable that people can just hit the pillow and knock out.. so far my best cocktail for good sleep is no caffeine + melatonin + no water a few hours before bed + some jazz music to give me something complicated enough to focus on without being too stimulating.. takes a lot of forethought for me to actually sleep. Fuckin “turn the lights off” my god this guys a genius!💀

    .yeah, it's true. When i talked with my doctor about my sleeping problems, then he gave me these kinds of pills but i give it back immediately and i said, "What? no doc, this thing is hormone... i dont need a hormone to get a sleep... my body can make this kind of thing" and then we both laugh...

    I will say he has a point. Taking meletonin too often can make you too immune to it to where it doesnt help. Coming from experience which is why i take benadryl along with it because it works better. But ive been taking since i was about 6 or 7 and im now 17. Ps i quit taking it for a long time because i didnt want to be immune to it. Id do this often. But also he sounds kinda dumb because if i take my meds i fall asleep even with the lights on. And also some of are afriad of the dark dyslexic and have insomnia. Also i cant sleep unless theres someone with me or someones presence because the dark scares me. And when anxiety goes up i just sit there with my eyes wide open waiting for the boogie man to come out from under the bed (kinda funny but true story) and then feel sad because i cant get up or move because im paralyzed with fear and too afraid to fall asleep. Funny thing is thats actually happened. Luckily it doesnt happen anymore lol. Anyways point is some people so need sleeping aids. In fact meletonin was the one thing that calmed me down when i was too afraid to sleep. Sooo yeah

    Easy for a super successful person to say no? What about those with disabilities, finance issues, and those with anxiety.. Some of us were born into bad situations, born with anxiety.. who knows. So far melatonin has helped me. Makes my eyes heavy for sleeping 😴.

    Well I have all but worn myself out in the sun and made my room pitch black, and could not fall asleep. Also, there would be NO need for these types of pills if people could easily fall asleep. I think people who have no problem with such things think no one has such a problem!

    I’m so tired of hearing “close your eyes and you will go to bed” well I have closed my eyes for an hour did deep breathing and listened to white noise did more exercise in the day drank no coffee took no naps and even more.

    Sorry, I did everything possibly could. As a nightsifter and experiencing depression and when during sleeping time, its almost impossible to sleep without the help of melatonin. At least for me.

    Thanks to melatonin (whether it’s tricking my brain or it actually works) I’m able to go to sleep at like 7 or 8 and wake up at 7 so I think it help even if it’s just a placebo

    I sleep super well for the first 3-4 hrs then I’ll wake up and would be hard to go back to sleep for several hours. This usually happens in the summer time because it’s warm and brighter. I tend to keep the room cool but sometimes that’s not enough. Tonight I’m trying melatonin for the first time

    As a nurse, patients with severe insomnia are from very different reasons and diagnosis. If books worked my insomnia would be gone by 6 and I am 62 I seep 2 to 4 hrs a night. I have books but I will stay up and read the whole book.

    What if you have severe anxiety . All of sudden I can’t seem to sleep at night and then my anxiety gets worse bc I’m worried about if I don’t fall asleep I’ll feel horrible then I don’t fall asleep and I do feel horrible . Seeing a therapist but I don’t want to take harsh meds .

    All those struggling with falling asleep, try alternate nostril breathing for 15m before bed.
    Or solfeggio tone (with water sound in background). Any Asmr that works for you
    Or a highcarb meal (if that fits with your diet)
    Or Hamsa breathing
    Or try Juice fasting/ water fasting
    Or Keto diet (basically more fat)
    Or TM
    If all this fails, juat pop that melatonin 30m before yourbed time😊

    Important for brains that don't produce melatonin though like autistic individuals and ADHD but it's important to be used correctly and only when absolutely needed but when your child doesn't sleep all night or doesn't fall asleep til five am it's a must as when we didn't have it the effects on me and my child were horrible I got sick of sleep deprivation and some people need more than a dark room and a book to produce melatonin.

    That particular brand did the opposite of what it advertised and I could not fall asleep. Similarly resembling eating or drinking something with to much sugar as in children.

    I would be surprised if this fellow has read the full (or even a big chunk of) more recent research and what they are all pointing to. Doctors and researchers are also adding many antidotes. Which emitting strong signals that we may simply need to increase melatonin to very high levels - especially, to treat certain acute situations.
