When she opposed music being taught in school she expressed her view point and in those days if you happen to talk to your great grandparents if possible you will understand that singing was considered below dignity to repute classes. On her grandson's arrival she did sing songs. What kind of songs were they? Were they songs that would presumably be sung by prostitutes? Old ladies usually sit together and sing religious songs or as mentioned in the story 'she sang of the home-coming of warriors'.
As a child, he had no one by his side other than grandmother. His day would start with her and end with her. But in the town, he became busy and then he went abroad. Hence, there was a change in their relationship.
