And to all of you residents you are amazing beautiful people and i pray all of you have found or will find peace and happiness. I just want to say im so sorry you had to go through that. None of it was your fault it was because of evil people with no compassion and I'm not saying all the staff waa but the ones that did abuse neglect and mistreat these amazing residents were evil.
I want the people who had to endure this ignorance to be compensated for their pain, suffering, time lost out of their life to get a benefit back from the state who wrongfully AND WILLINGLY, KNOWINGLY, hurt them and did this word to them hourly: ABUSE
I worked at the Lufkin State School, and there was occasional, isolated abuse. However, most every staff member loved their jobs and loved the clients. It wasn’t an ideal situation, but it was a satisfactory situation for everyone. It was set up campus-style. A couple of the dorms were locked because they were not capable of remaining safe on an unlocked dorm. Most of the kids and/or adults went to school or to the workshop five days a week to learn new skills, improve language and communication, and to have a chance to get off the dorm and interact with others. We went outside to play often. Sunday, whoever wanted to go to church got dressed up, and we took them to church, and let me tell you, it was amazing how they got into worship, clapping, smiling, hollering, and dancing, haha! It was precious. There was a cafeteria, a medical clinic, a pool, and a gym. They had special olympics. The saddest part was the medical wing where the very sickest bed or chair-bound clients were kept. They stayed on their dorm and received services there. Eventually, the school started moving higher-functioning clients into group homes for more individualized care in a homier environment. They might ride the bus to regular school for special ed classes or ride the bus to the workshop to earn a little money. In a less-than-ideal, often unkind world, the Lufkin State School is considered to be a better state school than many. I’ll say they attempt to provide the least restrictive environment. When I first worked there in 1989, they did use straight-jackets for the most severe behavior issues, but that was done away with not long after I started. We’ve come a long way with how we provide for people with mental and/or physical disabilities.
I'm a DSP and I work for a wonderful company that provides 24-7 residential group homes for these fantastic individuals. These wonderful ppl are so resilient and absolutely amaze me every day. They fill me with joy and they are the best part of my life. Some of the wonderful ppl I serve came from Fairview and they are so full of love and compassion. They have taught me so much, absolutely amazing ppl ,❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow this is crazy ive lived in Oregon my whole life and am just now hearing about this, so sad for all thos people and those little babies. This hurts my heart to see
Brieanna Smith if you've ever gone by the location the buildings are no longer standing.. me and a couple of my homies went there last week and there's nothing up that hill but a pile of rubble from the demolished buildings.. the roads are still creepy as hell tho to drive through at midnight
I worked for some of them (after they were released I didn't work at fairview) and I've heard way worse stories than in this video. These people are survivors!

I know this is a year later, but do you happen to have any stories from her? I'm working on a video about Fairview and would love to get some if possible. Thanks!
Theres a special place in hell for you if you hurt anyone but especially a child. Mt beautiful baby girl has autism an is somewhat delayed but shes the light of my life an my whole heart an if anyone told or asked me to put her anywhere they wouldn't again cause theyd get their lights knocked out. I will take care of an love her till i take my last breath
Their parents either took their kids there by choice or were pressured to send their kids there relentlessly. Back in that time they hid away these amazing ppl like they were a dirty lil secret. I have been blessed to work for a fabulous company that has group homes for these wonderful ppl and some of them even came from Fairview. These wonderful ppl are so resilient and absolutely amaze me every day. They fill me with joy and they are the best part of my life.
@@Progressive_Alien I like them too and fight to abolish abortion which targets these wonderful people for execution before they even get a chance to live. EVERY human being is made in the Image of God (Genesis 1: 26-28) and is incredibly precious especially to the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm so happy you help them and love your job. I watched over my dad that passed from Alzheimer's and now watch and caregiver for my mom all the time, but for part of Sunday when I ride my bike into town here in Oregon to go to church (Victory Baptist in Bend). It can be very challenging and today it was extra hard because for some reason she tore up a one of a kind picture of my dad and it just basically ruined my day and made me feel sick

I don't know what's more aggravating...hearing the actual stories or the absoluty disrespectful,, manipulative, part of the problem interviewer 😤
