    People can say what they want to about Elvis, all the negative comments and such. But after watching this along with many other performances throughout his career, you will see there was and never will be another performer with such electricity and magnetism. Sure Elvis had bad gigs as well, but a bad Elvis concert is still 100 times better than many of the singers/bands today. RIP Elvis, your legend will never die.

    What a fantastic performance.
    Where's the fat incoherent Elvis just over 7 months before he died.
    His voice is amazing, he looks great and the variety of songs is excellent.
    If any proof is necessary that he was the greatest solo performer pop music has ever produced this is it.
    Thank you so much.

    • @xdra31
      @xdra31 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @ElvisSung He was addicted to prescription pain medication, you make it sound as if he was a coke or heroin addict. Yes, the pills did take their toll on him, but he wasn’t obesely overweight, it was abdominal bloating that made him appear bigger than he was. And if I’m not mistaken, I believe you can just make out when you see him from the rear, he’s wearing a bulletproof vest, which also made him appear bigger. But here, he wasn’t bloated and looked great.

    • @xdra31
      @xdra31 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @ElvisSung Oh, absolutely agree with you that prescription pills, of the kind Elvis was abusing, ie, opiates, antihistamines, tranquillisers, barbiturates, sleeping pills, are every bit as addictive, if not more, than heroin, I wasn’t disputing that. It was just the way it seemed to me you were portraying him as being in the same bracket as a heroin addict. Yes, the addiction is the same, but any other comparison stops there, heroin addicts become addicts because they start using it recreationally, whereas Elvis’ addiction was borne out of necessity through no fault of his own, to treat underlying medical conditions, and for his chronic insomnia that he suffered from his whole life.
      And apologies, the obesity reference wasn’t meant to be directed at you, as you quite correctly didn’t even mention it. It was an afterthought to negate the way Elvis was and is still being perceived as being this overweight, recluse in the final months of his life. It was really in reference to what the original poster stated. I realise now, I should have made a separate comment about it.

    • @xdra31
      @xdra31 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @ElvisSung I only know from what I was taught in school that some use it experimentally, having used other drugs, to experience the high of heroin and feeling of the euphoria after. That’s what I meant by recreationally, wrong turn of phrase! If then they do it to self-medicate, for whatever reason, it still cannot be put in the same bracket as someone who has their medication legally prescribed by a doctor. And wow, sorry to hear you’re a recovering addict yourself but well done that you’ve stayed off it. I’m assuming, having worked in pharmacy, that you’ve been on a methadone programme ever since instead?

      @@MultiScoopedquando decidiram realizar o Aloha from Hawaii em 73, quase cometeram o mesmo erro do Elvis in Concert 1977. Diferença primordial foi que em novembro de 1972 o diretor Marty Paseta assistiu os shows de Elvis no Havaí e observou tudo que poderia ser melhorado, do visual e condição física de Elvis até o cenário e luzes. Isso motivou Elvis e a equipe em se preparar para os shows em janeiro de 1973, inclusive com um concerto de ensaio dia 12.
      Para o especial de 1977 não tiveram esse cuidado, colocaram muitas luzes quentes iluminando as arenas e o próprio Elvis realmente não se preparou. Você observa o show em Omaha dia 19 e ele estava muito nervoso e entorpecido, quando entra no ritmo o show já está perto do final e o show em Rápid City bem melhor. Sem a iluminação os demais shows seguintes foram bem melhores, inclusive o último show em Indianápolis.
      Como sempre uma série de escolhas erradas e a edição final do especial pela CBS foi desastrosa. Talvez esse material devidamente editado traria um melhor resultado final.
      Os shows da turnê de dezembro de 1976 foram ótimos

      And 2022 almost 46 years and still the king and 2023 here in 3 days and if I'm breathing Sunday another year done with the king and a new one upon us only by going back do we go forward and only by going forward can and do go back while doing it all in real time just like elvis was real once but now just memories remain but that's OK because in the end we live and give up the realities but never the memories or the dreams.

    Congratulations to everyone involved with preparing this presentation for the world to enjoy! I am one of the old audiophile cats who collected Elvis when these private or is that "pirate" recordings were first available on cassette, then one of my friends arrived home from a tour of Graceland in the early 1980s (Graceland opened for tours on my birthday, June 7, 1982 coincidentally) and explained he discovered this concert and a few others on VHS tape format. We were over-joyed needless to say, and soon broke. lol. Remember folks, this was before the advent of that thing we now take for granted called: The World Wide Web. I am always grateful and feel we are very fortunate nowadays to see so many videos of Elvis and all the great entertainers of the 1970s on the Internet by "free" admission. I have seen most of the footage of this concert and delighted to witness all the additional footage. Elvis could be seen for less than $15.00 dollars on that special New Years Eve evening. Imagine. I was 14 years old when our man unexpectedly passed away the following summer as fans know was on Tuesday, August 16, 1977. I like these recordings because they offer a window of opportunity for today's generation to hear the pure devotion of Elvis' many admirers. Believe me folks, the devotion was pure. I never saw Elvis in concert live, but, many friends attended Elvis' very last tour and concert in 1977 - and the support for Elvis was 110%. I am glad I was old enough to have these memories. The CBS TV special, which aired, October 3rd, 1977 (Sunday) was so popular that it aired the following Sunday too. My mother and enjoyed it twice. Dad and my younger brother elected to watch football instead. lol. Elvis has become so many things: the good, bad and ugly of every story since his death but, I know he was really: a human being who chose to sing - you and I know the rest of the story. Rest in peace, Elvis. Thanks everybody for reading my long tome about my favourite recording artist. Peace, Love & Best to All! Happy Birthday Canada and Hong Kong! Today, July 1st, 2015.

      When thay taped Elvis (in Concert) he became very nervous being infront of the cameras, one of the reason was, they would turn on the lights so he could see the audience, he didn't like that, and they would have done so if they should have filmed this professionally, hence his increased intake of drugs trying to come down which only made him look puffy.

    This is Elvis at his absolute BEST! He should not have passed 8 months later! Elvis played here in San Antonio 1976 the day before the Infamous Houston show. My mom was supposed to go and see him but couldn’t get off of work because all of her coworkers went to see The King. He died one month before my 10th birthday. His death affected me deeply and it still hurts to this day.
