Building A Track on The Synthstrom Deluge and Moog Sound Studio

  • This time I talk through a track I built on the Synthstrom Audible Deluge and the Moog Sound Studio, which includes the DFAM, Subharmonicon and Mother 32. At 4:40, after the performance, I walk through each of the tracks on the Deluge then switch over to the 3 tier Moogs to discuss patching and playability.
    Some delay was added on the deluge but there is also some Valhalla reverb and Cooper Time Cube delay on the Mother 32 through my DAW.
    I ran all synths directly into my Focusrite 18i20, with the Subharmonicon being sent out to the Hologram Microcosm, then back into the 18i20 in stereo, in real time.
    Bass from the Moog Minitaur was also sent through the Microcosm in the same way earlier on but recorded into the Deluge for playback.
    Hope you get something out of it!

    This is awesome, love your clear explenation too. My favourite is the happy accident you came accross when touching the end of the patch cable, you literally put your energetic charge into this piece, love it🙌

      Thanks Alix! The more I stop trying to predict what will happen and just make decisions, the more surprises I tend to find. Really appreciate the comment and kind words!

    Love this. Great walk-through, super clear. I like how you describe why you do or don't do something. I use the same gear except the microcosm (yet) and the minitaur so everything you're posting is hitting home for me. Cheers mate!

      Microcosm is the game changer I thought it would be btw…

    Loving the walkthrough! What stands are you using for the deluge and microcosm?

    Very cool stuff. I’m intrigued by this set up. I’m also using the deluge as my main sequencer/brains and looking ok’ing to add some external gear. Curious (now that it’s been at least a year since this video) what your thoughts on the Moog Sound Studio and specifically, it playing nice with the deluge are?
    Really love your work! Keep it up! Cheers.

      Hey thanks so much! The sound studio is still just awesome. The M32 is glorious and the DFAM is as small or big and dirty as you could imagine. To me though, the Subharmonicon is just my favorite. You really have to dial it in and it takes time but it's just all my heart when you get something good. Yeah they play just fine with the Deluge. I've mostly just run them with CV but I do sequence the M32 as well. Suuuuper easy to set that up via the Deluge.
      That being said, I don't think you need all 3 of these things necessarily. 2 or even just 1 is enough to lose yourself for months, ha.

      @@MadValleyMusicfinally managed to score a sound studio the other day and diving into the rabbit hole to figure out how to use em all!
      Haven’t got anywhere close to making it play with the deluge yet,but out of curiosity, how are you sending clock from deluge to the sound studio?

    • @MadValleyMusic
      @MadValleyMusic  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Amazing! I just saw your unboxing short. Congrats man!!
      For me i use the Arturia Keystep pro to sun and send clock but using the Deluge I go out Gate 4, since that’s the clock out, into the M32 and tie that to the SubHarm then DFAM. Just works best for me.
      Dude have fun and post some jams when you can!

    how you get the Minitaur to sound so round smooth and deep instead of acidy, farty, and wubbly?

    • @MadValleyMusic
      @MadValleyMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much! That thing is amazing for bass! It’s a balance between the filer and resonance. If your resonance is too hi and filter rolled off it can sound like that. Also a mix of different wave forms between the two oscillators gives it a more full sound. Do you have one?

      @@MadValleyMusic I do! and I constantly have the thought that it's disfunctional as it seems to have weird power issues and just simply never sounds like the Bass Station II. a couple years ago I even messaged Moog about it hoping to send it in and get it checked out but they never replied. sucks
