I'm not playing right now since the NYT tech workers (the ones who make wordle) are on strike, so this is the only way I'm getting my fix in the mean time! Thanks as always for the videos, Doug
Hi Doug! I love waking up my brain every morning with Wordle and then watching your solve immediately afterwards. Why not use BRAIN as your starting word?
You are only young once!! I could have got this in 3 as I thought of both swell and shell for guess 3 but went with a guess that tested another letter as well as the potential double ll - no regrets really.. . MINOR, PASTE, SHELF, SWELL
I got this in four and wasn't happy with my performance, particularly my second guess. When STARE gives me the starting S, I generally like to try a second word that tests four consonants which could go in the second spot. Something like chump or chunk. For some reason I tried CHING, which I immediately recognized as silly because the G isn't such a consonant. At that point I decided to try to narrow down the E with the word WEEPY. That helped. It gave me SxExx with a W most likely (maybe not 100%) in the second spot. The only word of that sort that made sense was SWELL. At least I got there.
Solved in four today. Here goes.... LEARN ("L" and "E", out of position.) STOLE ("S" and "L" in position, "E" remains out of position.) SHELF ("S", "E", and L" now in position. Is there another "L" at the end?) SWELL (Yes there is! Solved! Got it in four.)
STEAL, NYMPH, SWELL. I got 3 green tiles on my 1st word. Not as easy as it looked. I had to use an eval to rule out other possible words because too many words came to mind.
YEAST was my starting word in # 446, but it's never been a solve word, so maybe tomorrow is the day! I could use a one after this week. I guess I'm happy I got this in six instead of seven, but it's my own fault it wasn't a five. I reused the P in my third and fourth guess. (sigh) young-teach-plier-spell-smell-swell was my chain today.
After my opening word, I was fairly certain I had narrowed it down to shelf, smell or swell. My second word clinched it: LEAST, WHELM, SWELL. My streak is at 1,004.
OUNCE REVEL STEAL SPEIL SWELL it reminds me of the I love Lucy episode where they are getting English lesson and two words that they should use are 'Swell" and "Awful" and she asked the tutor to give them the awful one first.
