I was lost in getting the touch screen back in, I knew it had to go in a certain way, but I didn't wanna remove the cable. Saw a few videos that skipped over that part in reassembly and you instantly solved my problem when I saw your touch screen disconnected and you fit it in that certain way. Best video on reassembly!

Just so everyone is aware, it’s ridiculously hard to get the touchpad in place without removing the ribbon cable. Also, make sure you use pliers so you don’t damage the connector.
I think I damaged one but not to bad thanks for the pliers tip🙌🏾

I have a tough time putting the touchpad back in my analog stick wouldnt work properly so i wanted to clean them out and i couldnt get the touchpad in. I hope this works. This is my only ps4 controller

Because mine is 6 years old when I cleaned it out I found ginger hairs but i dont no any ginger person be in my home for 3 years
I came here to figure out how to get the triggers (L2+R2) reinstalled. I was trying to attach them to the bottom of the controller first, and couldn't figure out how to get those springs to line up. This video was super helpful. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your detailed tutorial. I accidentally dropped my controller, and it made a rattling sound. It still worked, but I wanted to see what was going on. I removed a small, broken piece of plastic, and the problem was solved. This video really helped me realign my controller shell. Thank you very much!

Just want to say thank you, I was fixing my thumbstick when my options button fell out, in an attempt to put it back in my touch pad fell out as well and I started freaking out because I didn't know how to put it back in. Thanks for the help. 👍👍
When I connect the touchpad ribbon cable back into the motherboard, should I be hearing a click or anything? It feels loose, no matter how firmly I jam it into the slot...

@@WMINEZ246 didn't get that "click" or anything but I did ensure the ribbon was firmly in place. Once I put everything back together, the controller was fully functional.
I know this is old video but still best one by far. I can't tell you how frustrating it is when people show assembly and disassembly and skip half steps or don't show/explain it well. Anyway great video 👍

This was so helpful. I was house sitting for family members and taken my PS4 slim with me. When I put it away back home I forgotten my controller was in my bad and tossed it aside. The grip popped apart and I'm really hoping it still works after I take the screws out and put it back together 😅

Thank you! I took my controller apart and couldn't figure out what I did wrong. Turns out I had the brackets that hold down the light bar backwards and it was causing problems when I put the back plate on. Great video.

Thank you for this tutorial! My controller was water damaged and this helped me put it back together after taking it apart and fixing it. I used a microfiber cloth, WD-40 and isopropyl alcohol to clean and repair it.

My Ribbon cable for my Touchpad isnowhere near that long, even pulled out.
Mine too but I got it at the end by pulling up and then putting the layer of analog sitcks

Damned if I didn't knock my controller right into a bucket of iced tea! I took it apart as fast as I could and I rinsed it all off under cold water and I stuck it out in the sun on top of my diving board for a whole day. Putting everything back together it seemed easy enough but it wouldn't come on. I watch this video and realize the battery strip was inserted backwards 🤣😅.

Welp.. just got back from cali, sat down in my room and was about to buy cod black ops 4, my controller didnt turn on so I charged, still didnt turn on so i deleted my controller from my bluetooth connections on my phone. So I said "okay, I'll go to Walmart and I'll get this thing replaced" they didnt let me so I called Sony and I'm now waiting for them to ship me a new controller (thx, ps4 controller for ruining everything cuz now I cant follow along with the hydro dipping video)

Man I'm never tearing down a joystick a 5am again, but I think I fixed it, maybe, hopefully.
The square wasn't working and the R1 was pressing on it's own when I pressed pause or flexed the joystick a little bit and it seems like it's working fine now

I take apart controllers a lot I just had trouble getting the touchpad ribbon cable and wanted methods on how to get it through that one piece

Really great.but don't try this u can do it if it's gonna cost u slot to do it from a shop like I tried this on 3 of my controllers it goes real great at start but then there's a 80% chance u will lose ur R2 or L2 spring and get it down the mother board and then when u find it I have to open the whole thing and then ur option share and touch pad r a pain in the ass and they r impossible to fix and then it's super hard to even close the controller after that and even if u can close it u will still lose something do don't try to open it controllers or PS4s at home.

Some of the steps look so easy but you could forget a step and replace something, its just like legos but less technical, when I mod a ps4 controller im going to consider rewatching this
Do you have any idea how to completely disable the R3 button (mechanically or electronically)?
I wonder if you can just unmap the button in the accessibility options on the PS4.
@@YourSixStudios Unfortunately you cannot, it only allows you to remap, i.e. you always have to have a specific function active in the R3 button. I tried remapping to other buttons that had less impact mid game / fire fights (I play a FPS), but in the end I happen to click it unintentionally and activating that other function mid game / fire fight.
How do you accidentally click R3? Also you can just remove the thing that pushes it down but u won’t be able to put it back
DarkGdx how do you remove that? I opened controllers a few times now to clean the sensors but it does not seem an easy thing to remove the mechanism.

Cheers! Buttons were sticky so I had to give them a good clean and couldn’t figure out how to get the blasted touchpad back in.
P.S. Sometimes sticky buttons has nothing to do with dust. You may need to only tighten the back screws as the two parts of the controller not being packed tightly together can interfere with the buttons.

Ah your touchpad ribbon cable instantly went through. Mine had done that once.
