@@extrastout1741 I don't believe the label in unmerited and unearned. Comparing him to a monstrous religion, admittedly much worse, doesn't mitigate his own behavior. Look a the wreckage he's left behind him: Three marriages, one just bad and two disastrous; turned two adopted children into scientology robots and won't speak to the one who's actually his flesh and blood - because the awful cult forbids it. His screaming at employees over COVID, way out of control, does whatever he wants whenever he wants and gets away with it because he's a "star." No, I don't think calling him a monster is harsh at all.

I was in the Church of Scientology for 7 years. The Training Drills desensitise a person. You feel like you can do anything, just do it, don't worry what people say...its all about goal attainment. You gain psychopathic traits...They lift in time but I still struggle to smile because my reactions are no longer automatic and reactive, they are much more under my control than what I experienced before Scientology. I used to be a sweet kind and naive girl before, but now, everything feels calculated, nothing is spontaneous unless I feel safe.

@@factoidual I never came across anything about Xenu when I was there. Apparently Xenu is mentioned in the upper levels like OT3. A level people usually attain after 10 to 20 years of being in and having spent most of their live savings. Also its not just a quirky little Sci-Fi Cult. It is dangerous and extremely destructive. It needs to be taken down. I am South African and it blows my mind that the US goverment has allowed this to go on for so long. Having all your money taken from you, your passport in a foreign country and being forced to engage in heavy manual work that leaves you sweating at the end of it. Being in a constant state of fear, being sleep deprived for long periods of time gets to a state were you literally break down. Your nervous system xxxxxxxx breaks and you cannot even read a page in a book because you are shutting down, You are being monitored constantly. You have to dissociate and become somewhat psychopathic otherwise you will have a psychotic break. I am telling you, I can't explain how horrific it feels to be utterly trapped. I wanted to scream but I couldn't, I wanted to cry but couldn't because they don't allow you to express emotions. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to get out.

Yeah but come on. Can you imagine how difficult it is to do endless rounds of press? Should he laugh only when he feels like it, or should he try to make everyone feel good by laughing even when he doesn't feel like it? Fucking hell. He does have a manic, empty laugh at times, but he just seems like someone who'd rather fake it a little to make others feel good than be 'authentic' and be a downer for those who he knows are super excited to meet him.

    • @Rebeccamunro1
      @Rebeccamunro1 ปีที่แล้ว

@@richardhorrocks1460 I get what you are saying, but it’s not TC’s job to make everyone feel better? I wouldn’t say he does endless press rounds, (maybe for Top Gun 2) at the time of release, but he’s seldom interviewed , definitely not on a regular basis. He’s a notoriously private person. He’s always showed a manic demeanour, a very long time now. I’m old enough to have seen the first top gun come out. To me (a woman) he comes across as extremely fake, but also weirdly fascinating because of the things he says, and his extreme behaviours.
To your point.. Surely it’s better to be genuine and authentic?
To know one narcissist is to know them all tho, in many ways.

And the fact that he is so interested in others, so generous, so open in his gratitude to those who have helped him, really doesn't strike me as narcissistic at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. He's obviously a human being so has his faults, and he an extremely dysfunctional circumstance for most of his life, but he seems - to me - to handle it with grace and decency. When he can't stunt, he can still act - and still be physical for his age.
And then there's the director's chair. For a control freak like Cruise, I'm surprised he hasn't already given in to the allure of the Director's folding chair.
Only thing stronger than his desire for control is his narcissistic vanity, that keeps drawing him to the front side of the camera.

Here’s the thing: the very very important reason stunt people are hired is not just cuz they are trained to do stunts…. It is because IF something STILL goes wrong, the movie can still proceed. They just hire another stunt person.
If Tom gets hurt doing a stunt, the whole movie gets put on pause, shelved, possibly permanently shelved.
For someone who had a meltdown about people putting other people’s jobs at risk (his covid meltdown), he does it himself every time he decides to do the stunt himself.

There are stunts Tom doesn't do and he trains with other stunt people until it can be done safely. Yeah, there are stunts that look like he is putting himself in danger. But they are set up by people that do lots of stunts in his films. The BTC footage is a selling point for his films. Maybe a little bit of ego. But mostly for publicity. He will happily talk about the other stunt performers in his films.
In the film Night and Day alot of the bike work wasn't done by Tom and most are on rigs that stunt people had arranged.
It's a little like Keanu Reaves. We presume he does most of his stunts, but he doesn't.

Tom thinks because he's a great actor, and we've all loved him for it in the past, that he must have a brilliant mind also. He fancies himself to be an influencer. Who knows what he might have accomplished with his wealth if not for Scientology. He might have been a really cool, laid-back, guy doing all kinds of great things for people around the world. The very things that Scientology lies about doing. What a waste. And now, after decades of being told how great he is, he's a delusional weirdo. He's his own worst enemy. If his ex-wife and daughter couldn't bust him out of the Scientology bubble he may well be a lost cause for life.

Don’t feel bad for toxic people like HG. How can you feel bad for these monsters if they never feel anything they cannot miss?
They cognitively know what is right and what is wrong, yet they still will always do the wrong thing (especially at other people’s expenses) just so they aren’t “bored.”
And since there is no true effective treatment, medication or cure for them, I am glad more and more people in the mental health field are advocating to just CUT THEM OUT of your life completely once you realize you are entrapped in their toxicity!
They closet you can EVER get to their personal orbit (you know where they may not lash out of you so badly) is if they see you have value to them, to serve their needs and nothing more.
Now is this really a life worth living if all you are delegated to is a role servitude to these Cluster B Types?

Yeah psychopaths are very driven and are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve something. Thats why so many of them are CEO's, bosses and other high ranking positions. They dont care about what others think and their feelings.
Tom Cruise has been a mega movie star since the 80s. Most of his films have been successful, people love him all over the world and on top of that he's extremly good looking. He thinks he's the king of the world.
He doesnt know anything else than to constantly top himself with more insane stunts for Mission Impossible, probably because its the only way for him to be as successful and relevant as he is today.
He doesnt do dramas like A Few Good Men or The Firm because those type of films dont become smash hits at the box office today. They would most likely end up on a streaming service, and we all know thats a big NO NO for Tom.

Any way, I think what's interesting about your suspicions of Tom Cruise's sociopathy is the 'behind the scenes' stuff with scientology, like how higher up people are allowed to slap people lower down the rankings, I'm sure theres a story of some girl Tom Cruise was being set up with before Katie Holmes who he supposedly slapped for something she said to him. I also heard that they people down the bottom (the poor people basically) work slave labour for all those high up on the list for free and don't forget turning his and Nicole's children against their mother. Only a truly vile person would use children against a parent.

There must be something wrong with me. I just don’t get the Tom Cruise thing. I’ve never gone to a movie because he was in it. I thought he was good in Risky Business and Top Gun but by the time War of The Worlds came out it seems he lost whatever charisma he had. At least for me. WTW was the last movie I saw him in.
If you want to see Cruise genuinely laughing his ass off, watch the Letterman clip about the airplane.

Agree! Who exactly is going to see those Mission Impossible films, 12 year olds maybe?
