    Interesting that Grian's done this *and* is bringing up Evo. Since people in the hernitcraft fandom really *love* being up Evo's lore from what I've found. Maybe this is a call to action to watch Evo so Grian can have some Evo stuff appear through the Rift and it not be completely lost on everyone?

    I would LOVE to see a shortened version of the evo series, where everyone came back together for it. I loved it so much. My favorite part was when Grian said “I can’t imagine doing what those guys on hermitcraft do. It’s absolutely crazy.” And now to see where he is. I’ve been a fan of the channel for so long. It’s amazing to see how far you’ve gone, and I’m sure I’ll stick with your channel for as long as you go. Your videos are on another level of TH-cam. It’s crazy to see just how much your channel has grown since then.

      A relatively small creator named Bugmancx currently has a singleplayer series going on called minecraft the journey where he started from the early minecraft stages and slowly updates to newer versions. It's a lot of fun to watch. It's not exactly like Evo where they had to solve a riddle to get to the next versions but bugman covers many features, changes and explores some bugs as well throughout all the different updates

    Back in the day, not having crafting recipes was part of the fun of the game. Imagine starting a world with friends. They show you how to make crafting tables, furnaces, torches, tools, and doors. And then you are left to explore. Bit by bit you uncover how to make things like armor, boats, rails, shears, etc. You figure out that sand smelts into glass! It was a wildly adventurous time.

    Those boats were actually useful thanks to Etho's EATS Road designs!
    Minecarts were voodoo back then with those paralleling slingshot setups needed to give boost, plus iron was hard to come by with the slower mining speeds. EATS roads were super cheap on resources, and with Etho's boat dispenser designs, boats could basically function just like minecarts and rails do today!
    Huge shout out to Etho for the early day ingenuity, there's a reason he's a legend in the community :D

    • @DreadKyller
      @DreadKyller 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I honestly loved the old Minecart boosters, the minecart physics in general back then were interesting, while the normal speed was lower, the glitch responsible for the Minecart boosters to work back then seemed to break it and made you go quite fast and not slow down for a significant amount of time. If you used enough minecarts in a single booster you could boost at the bottom of the world and make it all the way to the top of the world without any noticeable drop in speed.

Then one day, suddenly, there was this new lighter colored wooden plank that I had never seen before, and it took me a little while to realize it was from birch wood! It was so annoying that different trees would give you different colors that didn't match!
      I now play Bedrock, I used to play the Xbox 360 Edition and I still am not used to pressing 'B' for sneak and all the other controls changes. I had to change the controls on my account to match the ones from the console editions!

I haven't got very far yet but I'm exited to see what will come in the future. it's nice to vist and older series I haven't discovered as I never used to watch your survival series when I first started watching but I had noticed you had posed about twenty episodes of this minecraft series call hermitcraft season six and this is where It all began. My love for this channel really grew i used to watch your building tutorials all the time. yeah season six was a really enjoyable season.

    I remember the time beds were added and how controversial this was. A loud group (not sure whether majority or minority) did not like the addition of beds. They'd let you skip one of the things that actually made the game a bit more difficult.
    It's also why I was so surprised that the Phantom won a mobvote later, since initially people didn't want beds and then people wanted to be forced to sleep.

      I remember this too. The addition of beds was the first real game-changing update that I experienced, in the sense that it actually changed the "feel" of Minecraft for me. Perhaps on the same level as the addition of hunger, testificates, or the combat update.

    This video was very nostalgic from the perspective of someone who has been playing minecraft from nearly the beginning as a kid. I remember when infinite chunks simply didn't exist and you were confined to a certain amount of space (at least on the mobile version). I quite literally laughed at a few of the things you mentioned (like the fun times with the boats) simply because I had forgotten what it was like to play minecraft back when I was 8.

  • @Bluestonezee

    Things I miss from beta: Boat elevators, "oof", kiting zombies into lava, chunk load errors (aka vanilla X-ray), finding caves by scanning for mob IDs through walls, punching wool off sheep, torches on leaves, scuba gear torches, skipping every other ladder, drowning skeletons, Testificates, and mystery enchantments.
    Things I DON'T miss: losing items to the ocean floor, unstoppable fire spread, exploding boats, "You can only sleep at night", hideous cobblestone and netherrack textures, dying from lag, mystery crafting recipes, monotonous Nether terrain, randomly assigned villager occupations, spam-clicking combat, and mystery enchantments.

    • @diggoran
      @diggoran 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      I've been playing since Alpha and that was never a thing. Do you mean the chance where when you went to sleep you might be woken up by a zombie or skeleton standing at your bed? It was only ever one of those two, and it was caused by sleeping within two blocks of dark space (which could even be on the other side of a wall). That was removed in Beta 1.9 Prerelease 6. Citation: Minecraft wiki article "Bed", section "History".
      Creepers spawning near your home and waiting right outside your door for when you step out was a fairly common occurrence, but it wasn't coded into the bed. It's just bad spawn proofing around your house :P

    Those squids... were bizarrely amazing.
    Also: Grian, since you mentioned in your Hermitcraft Video a couple of episodes ago that you would like to try out some different things, it would be really cool if you tried out the Lord of the Rings Minecraft mod (the same one that VintageBeef tried out a while back). It is easily one of the greatest Minecraft mods. It has a very vanilla feel to it while still being Middle-Earth. It's kind of hard to describe it but all I can say is that it would be totally worth it to try it out. If you do decide to do it don't spoil it too much for yourself ahead of time because it would be fun to see you reacting for the first time to it all. Whether or not you do it solo or with Hermits and friends doesn't matter too much because it would be fun either way, but nonetheless it would be especially fun if you could do the latter. Other than the LotR MC mod it would also be cool to see you play Stray (Maybe with Scar, he expressed an interest in playing it with you on a stream a while back). Anyway, have a great day!
