James, as a private practice CPA for 35 years who has seen many companies succeed and fail, I know you will succeed and the primary reason is you will still get behind the wheel and drive a trip. You see what your drivers see, and that is the most important information you need to make decisions.
Hang in there James! I remember when the fleet size of the company that I work for, Village Travel, was that size. Now, we are at 200 coaches. I know you have seen us on the road. Be sure to give us a wave when you do!
great to see you long time no hear. Congrats on your success. Wow I didn't know Vahool went out of business. My first bus I ever drove was for a very small charter company in california back in the early 2000s it was a 1996 T800 model Vahool. Ive been with a small city transit job for 18 years now driving mostly New flyers, Nabis both regular 45 ft and 60 articulated, and lastly a Mci D4500 for freeway express runs, still having lots of fun.
Always great news when you post James and we can get some more bus ASMR, lol! Take it easy and keep making a positive difference as best as possible in the new areas you've been brought to. We understand and will be anxiously awaiting your new developments!
G'day James, long time no see! Glad to hear you're enjoying and settling into your new role as CEO over there. Regarding your trip to the Netherlands, I'd be interested to know in which direction VDL envisages the motorcoach industry going with regard to diesel/electric/hydrogen motorcoaches and what they're gearing up for in the future in terms of new buses they may offer. I think it would be quite insightful to learn what a manufacturer thinks - especially if they have different plans for Europe and North America in this regard.
Great video! I love the bus driving aspect as the son of a bus driver. But I work in finance and pricing for a fleet maintenance company (tractor trailers, not buses, though I did ask the VP if we ever thought about servicing buses!) and used to work for an auto parts company. Your discussion of maintenance and parts inventory really resonated with me! I know it might bore some folks, but I would welcome more business management content from time to time, though I look forward to you getting back on the road. I was just thinking of your channel the last couple of weeks. I was in Europe and took note of their coaches - going to your video with the European TH-camrs, US coaches look much better! Also the start of football season means team cheaters - those are some of my favorite of your videos! Looking forward to the big news!
The chair looks great , but that crooked picture on the wall James !!!! 😂. Good to see you back again and looking forward to your updates as you transform the business !
James keep up the great work! I feel exactly what you are saying. I've been through many transitions, and you are very self aware when you say that this is part of the process. Touching home base so to speak is really important. Get on the road when you can and know that we really appreciate everything you do for us bus nuts when you have a chance. Loved this behind the scenes video, this stuff is great!
Continue to enjoy your interesting perspective in this industry. As your role grows and changes, so does our insight as your audience. Southwest figured out what you are referring to with your fleet. It is the reason they only fly Boeing 737s so they can cut down on training, and streamline supplies and maintenance. And when they can buy the parts and service in bulk, they save even more.
Hi James! Good to see you back! Really pleased and eager to see what transpires going forward!, Do i miss driving, well yes and no! When i see a freshly painted coach belonging to a former employer heading out on a 7 hour line run, or an overnighter, i do get nostalgic, but the way my life is now, returning to the road would not be the best idea! But, i can do it vicariously on your channels! All the best from Down Under!
Hi James, Congrats on the CEO Job You Always Wanted!! Yes Any Company that has a CEO has Lots of Decisions to Make!! You are doing a Great Job, Juggling the Company & Family Life!! Congrats on ABC inviting You to taking those Trips will be Exciting!! As for the Comfortable Chair, that looks bad..take it home to Your basement, A Souvenir of 15 Yrs!! Take care & have a Wonderful Evening James & Family!! Barb from Rantoul, Illinois
Hello James Wang, great to see a new video from you.... Hope the changes coming to your company work out great...... It always seems like you have a wonderful bunch of people at Peoria Charter.......The trip you will be taking sounds very interesting, be safe.........thanks CEO Wang for these videos, really fun to watch......... when you do retire your chair maybe you could take it home, your wife would probably love it in the house....... thanks again for the video.............Jeff Thompson Rockford IL
Hi James, now that you are the owner/boss have you ever considered updating the uniform of your drivers? I don't see your employees as just glorified bus drivers but as professional drivers with a lot of training, certifications and experience. You have an awesome logo that should be utilized more. A suggestion (just my two cents as a fan), black pants with a white collared shirt, red tie, red vest and patches of your logo on both sleaves: could add a red shirt with red-white stripe tie, and even U of I colors when transporting for Illinois functions. Uniform upgrade just brings in a sense of fresh, classy and professional enthusiasm which PCC clearly demonstrates. Happy New Year and much continued success in 2025 to your business and family!
Glad to see the staff is working hard to help in the adjustments to the new job. There is nothing wrong with the 15 year old chair after all your comfort comes first so think of it as the stimulation seat. New projects and challenges as well as a busier Charter season does add to the pressure but PCC pays your wages and that's the priority. No doubt you're happy the political conventions are over up here in Milwaukee I'm sure some of your equipment was utilized. With the lower amount of charters in Wisconsin there were fewer buses to offer and it sounds like most places were short-staffed. What's the heavy traffic and road closures it just wasn't worth driving downtown but most comments were that over half the buses we're not even from Wisconsin. Parts for the equipment. You don't want to tie up too much cash yet can't be caught short. When I first started at the transit system here in MKE there were GMC 1962 thru 1968. Flxkble 1978. RTS 1980 Early domestic built Neoplans 1982. Crown Ikarus Articulated 1984. Two different orders of newer design Neoplans. 1985 thru 1987 then even two more builders before the old GM's and flexes were gone. When it came time after the property became all new flyer I lost count of how many dumpsters were filled with old parts that never got used almost forgot the Chance streetcar replicas. Ironically the place is now back up to three including a small order of all electric buses an item that still has many bugs to work out virtually in any aspect of Transportation. Wishing you the best on your upcoming trip and we look forward to your reports
Congrats on your promotion. As a newer Travel Advisor the company I work with doesn't have any motor coach companies would like to talk to you about this.
Thank you so much for your support James I know it’s difficult for me but I’m hanging in there I am taking time off from TH-cam for awhile I will watch videos on TH-cam
I found you tonight from my suggested videos, I saw a video from Schaumburg to Champaign. then I recognized a car at the start of your trip in Schaumburg, an apocalyptic Rav4 who's our customer at the Toyota Dealership I've worked IT at for 20 years. at 15:58 your IT cable management is absolutely trash down the walls. lol. i want out of the car biz, and i think the bus biz might be a the move. if you are hiring a Networking nerd.
Hey James! Big Fan. I was wondering what bus manufacture you're gonna end up with! We are a small family business that just focus on Vanhool but man watching you guys with prevost and other buses is pretty tempting looking at how awesome your buses are.
Hi James, it is great to see you back at making videos again. I hope to meet you one day next time your in Florida as I work at Mears Transportation in Orlando. My question would be concerning parts. My company, Mears Transportation, has all VanHool Buses and it seems to take forever to fix them when they break because of Parts availability. It seems that parts are "always" on back order. I understand Covid played a major role in this becoming the norm, however, this problem should be heading in the right direction by now and it seems that it is not the case. I would love to find out if they plan on correction part backorder issues in the near future. Thanks again for keeping us abreast of all the is happening in the Motor Coach world. Hank Snow
Hi James. Yes, getting off the road isn’t good for those of us “B” types. There is a peace that drivers get from going somewhere. If you can’t get out in a bus, take your Toyota out for a 250 mile trip. You might feel better getting some miles under your belt. On that software program, (I still use hammer and chisel on stone tablets). Yes, I am old. What you might find interesting is some pieces of equipment are more expensive than others. Seems strange, but by monitoring your equipment, you can know which units are cheap to keep, and which one to sell. Regardless of brand, sometimes it’s a 🦃 and it’s time for it to go to its next home. For me, if a unit repair cost was more than the original price paid, it was history. Which leads me to the Van Hool question. I would ask specifically what makes you coach better than others? And can he quantify it? I drove a Setra for years. We had 3 of them that went over 1,000,000 miles on the original 60 series Detroit. The Setra I drove was durable and trouble free, unlike the Neoplan Citiliner that would body flex and crack the front windshield on a monthly basis. Or the MCI 8 model that would overheat due to small radiators. (Ex Greyhound units) Having a uniform fleet will be a cost saving of at least 25%. When I was younger, the company only had GM buses. After 1980, they had to buy something else, and bought MCI’s with mechanical transmissions. And spec’s oversized radiators Thanks for the post. We have missed you.
Thanks for the update James! I hope the upcoming changes work out well and look forward to updates. I'm going to throw out a couple guesses perhaps PCC is looking to open a 3rd location, and/or is acquiring some former Coach USA operations. My question for Van Hool/VDL is, will they be looking at bringing VDL transit buses into the North American transit market?
I completely understand where you're coming from, James; I just started a new job at a Hampton by Hilton. There will inevitably be an adjustment period in any new job; I have to learn all the different room types, as well as a new property management software. That being said, I'd like to ask VDL if they'll continue to make the Van Hool TDX25 for the North American market. Back in 2012, I took a ride on a Van Hool TD925 from Burlington, Vermont to New York City. That was a cool trip because I had never been on board a double-decker bus before. I had the pleasure of riding up front on the upper deck. I never got bored on that ride because I could watch the scenery passing by, or watch the road. On that note, I have a question for you: based on your experience with the TDX25E, would Peoria Charter consider buying some TDX25s?
@J Wang question so do you think you can get your viewers a behind the scene from the time the customer calls in to book for a trip, escort or shuttle service etc From placing the order to scheduling, organizing team etc. what goes on behind the scene before you as the driver gets assigned just like the airline pilot and flight attendants
Southwest airlines saw it just as you did and thats why they only use the 737 airplane They buy so many they had a big influence on boeing making another 737 vs a whole new design My company i work for only operates peterbilt and kenworth tractors for that reason cost of repair and training And only one engine and transmission type Paccar and eaton fuller they just did 10billion profit Hope to see yalls coaches in alot more places
No need for apologies James. I’m sure you folks were busy with the DNC in Chicago. We had the RNC here in Milwaukee last month. There were tons of unexpected coaches for me to add to my photo files. Yes standardization is best for the fleet. Just keep the chair or take it home. Lords Blessings.
There’s a major conference happening at the Chicago Convention Center from October 5th to October 9th. They’ve arranged numerous charter buses to transport around 30,000 attendees from their hotels to the convention center. Are you participating in this event?

I responded with, "You dont have to use your voice to tell a story. Let the footage tell the story. So he went with it. I love his style. Plus it makes editing easier LOL. I have to spend hours cutting out all the stupid stuff I say.
Here's one vote for keeping your chair. First of all you like (love) it. Secondly I have been in offices and homes where chairs like that don't last very long. 15 years is great. It will be one less expense on the bottom line. Just a quick question; what procedure are you going to use for consolidating your fleet?
