I just don't understand why she didn't make it big. This perfomance was great, good stage presence, her voice sounds nice and stable...and on top of that, she looks amazing. It's a shame her career flopped. I know she's coming back this 2020 and I wish her all the best.
a mix of things. 1. she didn't take the chances she should have. her debut, outside of victorious, was mediocre. it still had that tori good girl thing. and was catchy but not exactly the type of thing that brings in attention, only something her fandom would vibe with. boring. she also didn't seem to have been properly managed and promoted. for example - ariana grande caught attention because she distanced herself from cat. the focus was on making ariana the name, face and brand. vic played it to safe, especially for the kind of environment that it was outside of nickelodeon entertainment. 2. bad press. victorious was suddenly cancelled, fans were upset and confused. everyone turned to victoria to blame, shame and get answers. it didn't help that fans and colleagues started rumours about her being difficult to work with. the tori hate train began, people deciding that they preferred other characters and that victoria wasn't enough. her perfect girl image, which is one that never lasts long, was under attack. the media said she was lying about being a good person, everyone went with it. 3. misogyny. women are shiny new toys, at first. people love to see them shine, until they start getting ahead. victoria quickly shot up and that made people feel threatened. this is why people focused on ariana grande. she was new to the music industry, she was exciting and because of her victimisation, she was viewed as an underdog. and even then, public opinion shifted on her aswell, after a year or 2. victoria was unfortunate. i have to say, her strength surprised me. her comeback was so honest and hopeful and she truly seems to be in a good place, despite all the hate thrown her way. i love that she hasn't ignored it, she stands well.
