    You really made a whole video about this :D FeelsGoodMan. Where would you recommend to look for a used set, maybe amazon or ebay? Also i am glad to see that i was an inspiraton for you. as far as i remeber my first guitar i got was something about 90€ (unused) and for the start it was perfect. quite a difference in price to notice for a beginner ghuitarist vs a beginner drummer.

      And e-bay or Craigslist (or whatever) is probably a good idea. I live in Denmark and we have a very established marketplace for used stuff, which I mainly use :) otherwise, there are probably a whole bunch of Facebook groups dedicated to trading drums!

    3:29 - 3:32 Well said sir. Saw and heard a Sonor snare drum that was made in 1879, and was blown away by it.

    I'm 63 been playing guitar 40+ just started about 3 months ago on drums when I upgraded my set that I have for our drummer. No teacher, no lessons, well not entirely true. Utube. Really all a teacher is for is to take information and present it in a way that each individual can understand. Some can do this themselves. My wife says I can fix anything. Everything I've learned is from paying attention. I do practice my single paradiddle. And a couple other of the basics. An hour or two every night while watching Star Trek then once or twice a week putting that on a drum set. Along with playing to some songs, some backing tracks etc. I was showing our drummer the cymbal pattern for " Take Five " against a metronome and he said in a few months I'd be better than him, not true, but shows you can do it on your own. Our drummer is really very good n I don't think I have the years left to ever play like or as good as him. You can teach an old dog new tricks. Dog just has to want to learn. Really If you enjoy it, thats what matters. One thing I realized is actually playing for a while you gotta sound bad to get good. Hope your neighbors are as understanding as mine.

    My first drum kit cost £215 including a double bass pedal. It was a Pearl kit with a mishmash of different symbols (all 2nd hand of course) My China was a broken old brass 16" crash that kinda worked.....ish. 😅😅

      @FrederikWeile 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If something works, it works! My 20" Zildjian China has a huge crack in it, giving it a completely different sound, and it honestly sounds fantastic but in a different way! :D Btw, a Pearl kit with cymbals and a double pedal is a great deal for that price!

    I remember the day when i bought my Yamaha stage custom (2001-2004) with Hardware (Yamaha foot Pedal,hihat stand, crash stand) with a 16" Meinl MCS Crash and a Meinl MCS 14" hihat for only 280€
    The Heads gotten changed before i bought it. On the Toms had already Remo Pinstripe ( since the first minute i loved the head, on the kick a Pinstripe Ebony and on the snare a Millennium (i dont know the Name ,cause it was a shitty head....)

    I want to start drums aswell but I'm really serious about it and don't want a toy and play metal music. What do I need and what to look for? (For a complete metal drumsetup). Are two separate bass drums better than one with double pedal?

    • @FrederikWeile
      @FrederikWeile 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Everybody has their own preferences when it comes to the setup; I'd recommend getting a kit with at least three toms, two crashes and a ride, and a double pedal (those can get quite expenssive though).
      I started on a standard drum set and I just expanded and added more parts (extra toms, china cymbals, splashes, more crashes etc.) as I went along and felt the need to have more stuff.
      For the drum set; the kits I mentioned in the video are usually very good, especially with a set a clear double-ply drum heads and medium/medium-thin cymbals :)

      Frederik Weile Thanks for the fast response, what would be a good brand for a metal drum set?

    • @FrederikWeile
      @FrederikWeile 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most brands make drums that can be used for all genres, but especially Pearl, Tama, Sonor, DW are great! I think it depends more on the materials; personally I really enjoy playing birch kits for metal, since they have a lot of 'smack' and 'punch' in their sound, and you can get a very fat and deep sound with the right heads and tuning. It depends a lot on what kind of metal you wanna play, how you play, and just your personal preferences. But birch or birch/bubinga is great in my opinion!

      All good advice and just to add to what's already been said. Start with just a few pieces as you can always add and then build on what you have.

    Do you have any recommendations for electronic drums in the same price range? I'm under the impression for an ok starting point its $300 - $500.

    • @FrederikWeile
      @FrederikWeile 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know as much about electronic drums, but I can imagine that whatever 'feels' the most like an acoustic drum set would probably be a good way to go! I had an electronic Roland TD-(insert random number) with mesh heads, and it was actually really good!
