(1:40) First, Jill Robbins has a report on an environmental dispute in Mexico. In Yucatan, hundreds of underground lakes form a semicircular shape in the northwestern part of Yucatan state. They are called the Ring of Cenotes. The lakes provide water for the area, but they are also part of a dispute between local people and pig farmers.

(7:55) Then, Bryan Lynn has the Health & Lifestyle Report on a possible treatment for preventing a very dangerous disease. A yearly two-shot treatment shown to be highly effective in preventing HIV infections is to be offered at low cost to people in 120 poor nations. The American drug company Gilead makes the drug. (15:26) The Health & Lifestyle report is followed by a chat between Caty and Bryan. They discuss some vocabulary words including immune system. Bryan defines the word and other health-related words like “fever” and “infection.”

Today’s subject is “superheroes.” In Lesson 24, Level II, Anna imagines she has gained special “super” powers.
