When Kevin starts working, you know he's here to change the clutch - not write a ballad about the experience, with pauses for inspiration. Great job as always. :-)
Great video Kevin. It's a long time since I did my last clutch replacement, but I'm now committed to replacing the one on my Son-In-Laws 2017 Auris shortly. Boy am I hoping it goes as smoothly as it looks here, but bleeding that clutch looked like a right pain in the a***
I have been watching your videos for a while now. I must say, you have fantastic skills, you are hardcore man👍 keep up the good work. Regard’s from Denmark 🇩🇰
Well Kevin my forey into a 2013 yaris V Y-1 didn't go quite as smoothly it has to be said. The drive shafts rusted in solid and an adapted Clatk bearing splitter + aBIG hammer did that bit. The next was the hydraulic pipe to the bleed thingy. Some idiot had over tightened it, splayingthe end jamming it solid cut the short pipe and undid the other union. Toy Motor wanted close to £135 for a replacement bleed union???? Next the yellow coded gear change cable rusted solid, and I mean solid, onto its pin. Had to sacrifice the grommet thing and show the brass sleve the oxy propane torch and 650 to 700 °C before it released with a Swan neck. (heat and water for it to cool) Finally the rear locator dowel pin jamed fast in the bell housing. We took the G/B weight on the engine crane refitted the nearside mounting bracket Son wriggling and tugging on the G/B and me underneath giving the casting around the stuck Dowel a right good rattling with the rivet gun set max strike and 90psi air pressure. Had the car from Toyota X demo on a service contract. Well Nuff said on that one there. Both me and kiddo are both aircraft engineers and have a goodly range of tools, kit and experience. To any one thinking of doing a quick clutch job on a yaris much older than 2016. Well don't........... I have to say however We found you video Very Very helpfull. Having watched is several times it should have been a 45 min job it was very well filmed in super quality. Avington watched it innumerable times we knew exactly what to go for and importantly in what order..
I noticed that you usually leave the driveshafts in the knuckle and therefore you don’t have to take the hub nut off. You would normally take the ball joint connection with the lower control arm and take the whole subframe off, but this time you’ve gone a slightly different way about it.
Which gear oil-75w-80, 75w-85, or 75w-90-is best for a 2009 Yaris with a 1.3 MMT transmission? I want smooth gear shifts and good performance. Most Yaris users online say 75w-90 isn't great for MMT transmissions; it's better for manual gearboxes. The Yaris manual suggests using only single-grade 75W oil.
Another Great job Kevin. Can I ask a general question. With front wheel drive cars do you leave them in gear or a certain gear prior to pulling the gear selector cables off at the gearbox end? Is there ever a problem with the gears not being correct to the gear lever when you reassemble? Supposing the selector moves when you take the gearbox out. When you put it back together are all the gears correct to the numbers on the gearstick. Or is this just not a problem?
It’s rubber grease; anti oxidisation , so the bolts won’t ever size in the threads and it will tighten up effortlessly. On the gearbox spline ; the clutch plate won’t ever build up dry rust which causes clutch drag and premature wear

Thankyou very much
@@WMCS I wish you would be doing timing belt videos too at some point regarding audi 1.9 tdi pd engines
I've been waiting for this episode
Thankyou.
Great vid man, as a fellow mechanic I bet this one was a breeze compared to some of the euros? Also do you machine the flywheel?
The Man the Legend 👍🚗👍
😁🍻…
This is a brilliant video, you've really gone out of your way with camera positioning to show every possible detail.
Hola, muy buenos tus videos, que líquido usas para lavar las partes de la caja?
Hi kevin. Awesome jobs as always. Would you be able to put in how many kilometres or miles the clutches have done when you replace them? TIA
Why the red grease on bolt holes @29:00mins?
good job Kevin
Crazy amount of dismantling on this one…
Good job ! 👍
What is the cube shaped part in 17:05 ?
What's you comfort limit for weight? When do you use a transmission jack?
I’ve never used one before. Maybe in the future.
🔝 Kevin 🔝
Is that a concentric bearing??

There shouldn’t be any problem. No adjustment required. Pop out and clip back on.

It’s M12 for angle ratchet .,🍻
@@WMCS Dziękuję kewin🥂
Hey mister Albert why do u put grease on the transmission bolts holes and hellos from alabama USA 👍🏽
It’s rubber grease; anti oxidisation ,
so the bolts won’t ever size in the threads and it will tighten up effortlessly.
On the gearbox spline ; the clutch plate won’t ever build up dry rust which causes clutch drag and premature wear
Kev out of interest so you use auto data or Haynes pro ?
Definitely Autodata. Haynes pro is soooo long and confusing. You’ll almost need an IT degree 📜 to work it out.
Any reason you don't machine or replace the flywheel?
It didn’t need it
Hi mate im from Bridgwater ta6 I have same model 2015 when is cold clutch shaking a bit only 30k miles please tell me what to do 😊

Wouldn’t it be great if they were all as straightforward as this Kevin 🥷
It’s definitely on par with the Peugeot 107 when it comes to skill level on this one.
