Early 70's were the best IMO for tennis. Great characters, subtle nuanced playing, variety of shots, footwork and sportsmanship.

I respectfully disagree. Rosewall and Laver while still great were past their absolute prime. Rosewalls prime was about 61thru 67 an Lavers 64 thru 69.

No, his prime came earlier. Late 50s to mid 60s. These guys didn't get as much exposure prior to the Open Era, but they, along with Pancho Gonzales, were the best in the world for years before that.

@@AmurTiger-vm5dy Well Laver won a Calander amateur slam in 62, then went Pro and won a Calander slam there, including dominating Rosewall from 1964-1972, then Open era winning another calendar in 69. So 3 Calander Slams in 3 era amateur,Pro and Open, Countless Davis cups, doubles grand slams and mixed doubles grand slams. He has the Australia Grand Slam court named after him and has maybe the biggest tournament outside the Grand Slams names after him in the Laver Cup. So hmm I think Laver and Australia and many people around the world know who is deserving of the GOAT. Btw while Rosewall was a super-talented player and was hampered by going pro early, Laver has said the only player he truly admired and thought was maybe better than him in his prime was Lew Hoad.
