- Bernie had to work so Flo and I headed to Oahu to go to the Aloha BMX and BikeFactory Hawaii Old School BMX Bike Show held at the Waipio BikeFactory store on Saturday, April 29th, 2023. They had a ton of old school bikes from back in the day. Alan and his gang at Aloha BMX did a fantastic job at putting together this event for the BMX community and they are looking forward to next year's show already! Totally agree! We need to keep it going and never let it die! Bro, Boston Pizza was the bomb back when I lived there. I didn't know they still had a shop open! There was a place open at the bottom of the hill I used to live on and my wife and I would get a slice maybe once a week at least! Thanks for sharing that and for watching another one!

No ways! They actually have three shops on Oahu and you might have passed the one in town on your trip. They are the biggest shop on Oahu and have a ton of inventory. How fun! Thanks for sharing your experiences at the show. Coincidentally, I attended my first BMX show on Sunday. It was fun to see how this one was different, especially how it had way more bike categories. It was fun watching them announce the winners and seeing the bikes, so cool that you were able to capture that on video. 😎

Haha, yeah, those old school Mongoose and Roger DeCostas were super heavy. I had the cheapest Mongoose with the heavy metal rims with no free wheel. That thing was brutal! But man, I wish I still had it today. Thanks for watching another one!

I think if we had like a show and shine type of event, that would be cool. I'm not sure just how many old school bikes still get left on the island, but who knows??? Maybe get choke and we don't know! We should keep this in mind!
Loved this video!! I worked in a bike shop for 15 years during the 80s and 90s so seeing all the old school BMX bikes was awesome and a trip down memory lane!! Glad you guys were able to attend. Bummer Bernie couldn't go though.
That's awesome! Next time I'll try and get better shots of the bikes to show more of the parts. This was my first show and I could have done a better job at that now that I look back on the footage. Yeah, it was a bummer Bernie couldn't attend but hopefully he can make the next one! Thanks for the comments and for watching!

My brother woody had a Smoked /Black Chrome Pro Class just like the final winner. I think they said it’s the best in show and the giveaway bike? Do you have any pictures of that bike? I’ve been looking all over the internet for a 1983 or so Pro Class. Our dad dropped us off at a bike shop while he had to go on base for awhile in Alexandria VA.He said pick any bike you want. I picked a chrome Hutch pro racer frame and fork. I picked every part I wanted to build my bike. Woody did the same. He picked a mongoose Pro class frame and fork and all the parts he wanted. My dad was in shock when he got the $1500 bill in 1983. Thanks, Jamie O
That smoked chrome was such a nice color. The Harry Leary Turbo is my all time favorite bike. They actually didn't give away that bike....the emcee was joking around since the owner was his friend. That would be pretty amazing though if they did raffle it away! That's a cool story about you and your brother picking out a bike. Dang, $1500 back then was huge! You had a great dad to do that for you guys! Thanks for sharing that story and for watching!

@Cruising In the 808 Thanks guy’s I love these B.M.X. Shows/Displays I’ve never been to one, and they just instantly take me back to my youth in early 1980’s they just stir up some good emotions every time.
Maybe you can get some closers shots next time, and even if can use partners light on their phone as well the more light the better. Thanks….🤙🫡
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, when I went, I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to do with the footage and so I went in without much of a plan. Now that I've done one and can see where I need to improve, I'll be sure to make those adjustments next time. I noticed I did not get very many close ups and that's where the old school guys like you and me would like to see more of a bike. I wouldn't be able to do that with every bike though as the video would be way too long, but yeah, filming more shots, adding in close ups on specific parts would definitely be ideal on some of the more banger bikes. I had a light as at the very end, you can see it being used and that's why I missed that one winner because I was trying to get that out of my bag. Next time I'll have it already on my rig so I can just turn it on when it gets dark. Thanks for watching and for sharing those comments!
