Thank goodness we have a few photos left of the way it was in this country. Not liking it much lately.

I remember corner shops well, not only was it easier to shop at one but you could also catch up on news and local gossip lol.... it's a shame most have disappeared....

Brilliant! Thank you most of my areas, even the road where I lived, Grant Street.

as ex brummie, enjoyed the pictures of birmingham, far better today , as many old buildings have gone, road layout in city centre is disaster

Well done Bazza. I pressed the play button and 5:38 just flew by. Old Brum was a rough old town but we loved it.

BUT--in between ( 17th century, Samuel Pepys visiting Bristol said, ''It has everything London has, but smaller.'' Bristol was the second city and port, but 200 years later, lost out to Liverpool , because they could handle huge ships.

Are--the old toon. All our cities looked completely shagged at wars end. Born in Brum, moved to Bristol , bombed sites still evident in the mid 1960's. all flattened, used as TEMPORARY car parks in 1946. German cities, all beautifully rebuilt within 10 years.

Pictures like this reveal how old some of the street lighting brum was. In this video I see quite a few GEC Z8526 for example at 01:30.

      I thought they were GEC Y8526 's.

Lovely pre-invasion days, before Labour launched open border !

Not an invasion. People were invited. Big difference. An invasion is what we did starting illegal wars in the middle east .

Always got to be one racist who believes people of colour ruined the country, it was globalising, austerity and the growing division between the poorest and the richest that did that. Not some muslim family who are working, probably providing the services you love (takeaways, taxis, cornershops)

Chloe Jones I used to have that mindset, but this crisis changed my mind completely. I found out that white ppl are a minority in London, then I found out that the poorest part of london is richer than the richest parts of Northern Ireland and parts of wales. I used to think the violence in London was down to poverty. However that’s clearly not the case, so there can only be one logical reason violence in London is so bad

@@throwow1014 Go on then 101... Tell us what your research has shown you is the one logical reason for violence in London.....
