Imo I think the first one was fine, if anything I'd argue it felt a little less like a song directly from the main series games but could be one of those banger tracks from the spinoffs or a Reorchestrated track they would use in the anime/movies. This one feels more in line with a main series track although I think that comes at the cost of feeling more restrained imo.
Yeah, it would fit in just fine in the mystery dungeon series, especially the songs that play near the end of the main storyline in explorers of time like in the dialga fight
After binging this channel and the music you produce, Im really impressed by the quality. This sounded more like Pokémon than the first one to be sure. Though I've always thought the less busy ones were more enjoyable. Like the approaching Cynthia music and Zinnia's theme. Both are less busy than other themes but it makes them so much more impactful by doing that. Of course I dont know the first thing about music so im probably talking out of my ass LMAO
Everyone makes FINAL boss fight music, but what about hilariously weak EARLY boss fight music? What does that sound like? And why am I only fascinating with loser jokes? It couldn't possibly be...because...I...no noway.
THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! I have tried to make music before and you absolutely nailed the concept of a pokemon battle into your own way of making music. Also good choice with 8 bit music theory. My only thing is, I really did enjoy the original battle theme. My one recommendation. Combine this one with the leitmotifs through out to make a final rival battle them. One that encompasses the full extent of you journey. Of course, only if you would like. Regardless, phenomenal job.
Honestly the first one Seemed to have a bit more of a emotional punch to it, (so much so It inspired me to write up Song lyrics for it) it Made me think akin to a Rival fight, but your rival has been struggling HARD and you the main trainer, are forced to fight Them in their sheer Desperation. This new one instills minor Fear in me (Akin to the Intro to Cynthia's theme But Unlike hers, this one Instills bits of panic all throughout) And I love both! I just personally see the first one lines up more with a rival battle. and this one Feels more fitting as a Fight against A champion that has been Looking for your Challenge. But they are NOT going to give it up without a fight! Overall I REALLY enjoy what you have done so far! And Am excited to hear more from you in the future~!
Oh this time it's definitely pokemon. I can hear a lot of borrowed ideas from Gen 3, and it fits very well. But I'd say this feels more like an Elite 4 theme than a rival fight theme.
nah its like a song you would hear if you fight like the pkmn World Champion or a new character thats important for lore like N but homies already got a theme, Very epic and uplifting i think its nice. also 6:32 THE ONE PEICE IS REAL
The first one was still great! It's still feeling like Pokemon, but I really liked the emotional edge the first one had. Though I can now see where people said it sounds like Undertale and Touho, but then again Toby Fox did compose for Pokemon a few times! Second one is also good, the process of making a leitmotif and not having anything stick is TOO relatable! X3
late to the comments but really enjoyed all 3. favorite was the sorrow, it reminded me of beating the champion as a kid and the beautiful credit music rolling and trying to figure out why i was about to cry... very nostalgic. keep it up my guy
I think if you enjoyed creating this you should try make a tune from Pokemon arceus as it is softer and relies entirely on piano and violin it seems like a type of music that would seem different to try out btw great song good job
Def gonna watch more of ur videos, editing and that comedy spice in there was really keeping my attention on the whole narrative of the video. btw minute 2:05 of the song HITS HARDER THAN MY STEPDAD HOLY
Great video format you have going on here, it really helps people understand the personality behind the music and their intentions. And yes, working with notes outside the key is very difficult lol, but if you nail it, it adds so much character. Would love to see you tackle other genres and topics!
Broooo, I your content. I'm a huge pokemon fan and video game. I hope that you will be successful with amazing music. I have my full support here, my guy
I love how well you balanced explanations and funny haha in this video. I want to get into FLStudio and music theory but I am the most novice of novices so hearing some stuff made easier to understand was really informative thanks! Edit: After listening to the full track I really felt the hoenn champion kinda vibe along with a bit of Pokemon XD's emotional bits, it sounds incredible!
Keep up the awesome work on this stuff man! The music really captures the essence of a Pokémon battle and your effort is noticeable. I thought for sure when watching this video and the last that you had minimum 100k subs, I’m shocked it’s not even 10k! Your sense of humor without distracting from the point of the video is perfect and makes everything entertaining.
It sounds more pokemon for sure but it still feels off to me for some reason in the progression specifically. It sounds more like another RPGs boss theme music but around the 1:20 mark of the second song it sounds like an actual pokemon song until about another 20 seconds pass. It goes back to being something I'd hear in a different game again until just after 2 minute mark where it sounds like it could maybe be in pokemon, but the type of piano used seems out of place for pokemon specifically. It kinda gave me some Kingdom Hearts vibes honestly, ala Destiny Island.
I'm no music expert, so take it with a grain of salt. This new piece really does feel more like a pokemon battle song, but I feel like the base melody of the first piece felt a bit more original. In this new piece we can clearly hear parts you took inspiration from, specially in Cynthia's theme, which is not exactly a bad thing, but I do value a bit more the uniqueness vibe from the first piece. The first piece lacked the epicness of a pokemon battle song and you managed to make it work pretty well on this new piece. But what I liked the most comparing both songs is that thing you like to put, some reverse twiches or something, it felt a bit off in the last song, but you improved so much in this new piece. I really liked them both, I hope you to grow more and more from now on!
Your first one literally sounds like an anime intro. You should save it and get hired to make the intro to an anime and use that cause it was dope! This one is more pokemon-y but I think I prefer the previous one as a song overall, like if I was just passively listening to music without trying to listen to specifically pokemon.
Honestly a major improvement dude! It definitely did capture the vibe of the mainline games. I'm no expert in music, but I do think that the bit around 49 seconds to 53-ish leading into the "sorrowful" part felt kind of forced or jarring. That sorrowful part also felt a bit too quiet in a way since there were less instruments used in that part I guess. Just some personal feedback from a casual who knows next to nothing about music theory haha
much closer. I'd say the one party that loses the pokemon feel is the bit from 0:53-1:10. It drops the jumpy beat which is fine but it lasts longer than it seems like it should. In pretty much every champion and rival theme there's never more than 5 seconds where you aren't bobbing your head along with the beat. The bit at 1:56 to 2:01 feels much more inline with how pokemon themes usually do that breakdown. Edit: song timestamps not video time if that was't clear.
There are alot of vibes tbh a true huge amount! of dif vibes depending on ppl! but last one kinda sounded like touhou vibes and a lil bit of undertale and the funny thing is, is that they are both doing collabs. XD
Have you ever played Super Mystery Dungeon? The aforementioned part around 0:53 reminds me a lot of one of its leitmotifs, can be seen well in Tree of Life: Roots.
Nice video my dude! I just wanted to come by and say I love the little skits you do for these music breakdowns they add some great way to break up the video, also appreciated the music concept breakdowns that you talked about in the video itself, very informative. I do wonder if it would be possible in your video software to turn up your audio since it is quiet and when the Song you are composing is playing it can blend in with the song itself and be hard to hear. Otherwise good stuff my dude! Keep it up :3
I do have to say: don't focus on the negative comments. I know that's a cliché, but people that don't have anything to say, don't comment. It may have just looked like nobody thought it sounded Pokémon-like, because those that did, probably didn't think to mention it.
about 4 people said it last time and were upset, 100+ said it didn't very nicely and gave feedback. The comment in the thumbnail actually exists i just edited their name and picture out.
Liked the song after i checked it out. It's much more of an improvement as the previous one felt like it drifted off and became its oen thing. The new one was really fast pace and sounds closer to a pokemon theme. Somehow felt a little off to me, I'll rewatch it later.
I got to the first video from a Touhou video lmfao. This one sounds way more Pokemon-like. (But you should play some Touhou if your natural instinct led to that first song.)
yeah the first one sounded.. close to Pokémon.. but it's missing a lot of emotional tension. it's too much inspiration, not enough tension. it sounds like Pokémon but music you'd hear in a location, not in battle. you absolutely nailed it this time though. it feels like you looked, stared directly at the tension problem, and absolutely NAILED it to the wall.
I ACTUALLY don't know shit about music so disregard this comment, but I do agree the first video didn't hit the pokemon mark. It was still fantastic, though. Felt like an Indie RPG battle theme, Chained Echoes or something of the sort. This one nails it, though I feel at about 1:05 it feels like it got too relaxed into the feeling of the previous video. Still fantastic, just those 10 second or so feel like "not pokemon" because I think pokemon themes don't chill the fuck up for more than a second.
I have to say I like the old one a lot (too much in fact) although it could be nice that at some point you can remaster it, believe me, maybe it doesn't sound like Pokemon at all but Jesus, it's very pretty, although it is very, very good, although I will do it again. to say I hope you release a remaster of the old one
and a follow up to my other comment on the other pokemon video, i hope you read it but these are REALLY good! i would really like to use these as my outro and in video music
Almost a month later, and I'm still gonna say, I prefer the previous one. Sure it didn't sound like Pokémon, but it did sound unique. I got a little bit of constructive criticism. What usually makes Pokémon music special is it's generic uniqueness. Usually the songs fit into a specific theme that the rest of the game tends to follow, for example: when a rival pops up. Usually the rival is matched to the region, and usually just has an overall connected feel to the rest of the game. Your song didn't sound like it had that connection because it didn't; it was a solo track, and that's OK. You can still make one without an entire soundtrack for a full game to go with it. Another thing that contributed to its non-Pokémon-ness is the instruments. I can definitely say the retro piano(?) and the violin were controlling the song, and I mean the entire thing. It feels like they kept the few other instruments in the song pushing foreward, and that isn't what Pokémon music does. Everything blends in and has a spot in a Pokémon song. That's what I think got in the way of the original, but then again, nothing is really wrong in music uness you're just banging your hands on random keys on the piano, and possibly your head. The original did have a sense of uniqueness in the sense that it was your music, your style. As long as you put you into a song, it's great anyway. Either way I still stand by my opinion that I really like the original, but this one is good too. Sounds a little too good (lol). If you want an example of what I meant by any of that, I uploaded a song that sounds like it's from Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. It had lore, and implimentation. Basis was that the song was for a scrapped-concept Pokémon that migrated itself to the Johto region for no identifiable reason. An enigmatic creature of such rarity would have been a unique and strong encounter. I aimed to keep the tempo up for the fact it was a battle theme, and the I kept the song a little journiful, to represent the fact the creature had moved into Johto. I used the dual pianos for a sense of enigma, and used a koto for the fact the region is still Johto; though Johto does use a lot of violins and trumpets I guess. Also because I'm boring with a side of special, made the song in C major... C# major. Little pizzazz on that. Feel free to give it a listen to if you want to if you decide to try making another Pokémon song again in the future. The Song: th-cam.com/video/0LUKSKn1THk/w-d-xo.html (For the listenies) The Sequence: onlinesequencer.net/3603334 (For the lookies) (Also a little tip. If you want your song to truly sound like its straight from Pokémon, just use a soundfont with special instruments from Pokémon. Your song will become almost indistinguishable.)
Your editing and writing is on point as always, one thing I will say is that it feels like your in an awkward middle ground between nerd shit and comedy, where the people who know nothing about music theory and writing don't understand any of the nerd shit, which i assume is most of your audience, not sure what the solution is however. I feel like you could probably better lean into your great comedic timing and maybe have less nerd shit but explain the nerd shit that you do add. Good video tho
what app do you use? I wanna start making music for a band my friend put together, and if its possible, could you give a tutorial on how to make music?? :3
Hey that's me! I played OG pokemon Red and literally nothing else :D
Lol
It makes sense now...
Now it makes sense!
It's you, "No longer friend" guy! My hero!
hello there majestic man
He makes music, has a psyduck watch, and he’s cute. OH NO YOU’RE MEETING ALL OF MY STANDARDS! THAT’S THE THREE
That reminds me of the psyduck guy in the pokemon journeys anime
"NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!"

it feels like you got a bagel perfectly cooked
Honestly loved the Touhou vibes that the previous song gave, this new one definitely feels more like pokemon though.
I got an asthma attack from laughing. This guy is just too fucking funny, I love his skits
You ok😨
tickle me ball

It kind of sounds like the Alolan Elite 4 theme!
The mere mentioning of Cubeworld gave me a brief cascade of ten emotions
Now this is the kind of content I like to see!
Okay, well, not all of this is, but most of it.

give this man a world in a dance of fire and ice
I do not know how to describe it, but the track still seems to have a 'fan-made' aspect to it that distinguishes it from official tracks.
You made me click on your channel and watch more. Not many creators do that. Keep being you bro
I’d like the older one tbh

bring the gen 3 trumpets!
nice job i really like your style and humor. this definately sounds more like s pokemon theme.
Youre so imaginative! amazing work bro! I love your bits, you're very good at talking to yourself lol
Huh, i'm sorry mate, but the "first fail" started as an ABSOLUTE BANGER. Very "final team boss villain fight", extremely tense, menacing and epic.
Is it ok if I use your music in my videos? (with credit of course)
Absolutely amazing work !!! 😂
I'm no music expert, so take it with a grain of salt.

understandable! I also prefer the first one stylistically :D. Hired for an anime intro tho? that's gonna be a while haha
I like the old you make, but this theme is different it really fill like pokemon battle so I like it too

We got comedy and musik best combinations.
2 months ago you said "im sorry im no composer i speak fluid dumbass" and i was just like "i felt that shit-" thats why i subbed
I hope you make wild battle theme and other music as well like trainer battle theme and all that COULD BE AWESOME!
much closer. I'd say the one party that loses the pokemon feel is the bit from 0:53-1:10. It drops the jumpy beat which is fine but it lasts longer than it seems like it should. Wow! Your editing and houmor are amazing! Insta sub even though I'm not into the making of music that much 😂
6 min gang. Nice music btw, keep it up!
wait i just saw the last one and didnt realise this was 20 mins ago lol, btw dope music
This song for me flies between Touhou and Pokémon, great
There are alot of vibes tbh a true huge amount! of dif vibes depending on ppl! but last one kinda sounded like touhou vibes and a lil bit of undertale and the funny thing is, is that they are both doing collabs. XD
Ngl this sounds like pikmin
This actually sounds like Pokémon 😮🎉
Lol, I remember having that Pikachu sprite sheet for fruity dance.
So I think all those themes are perfect and really good (the old one too)
Have you ever played Super Mystery Dungeon? The aforementioned part around 0:53 reminds me a lot of one of its leitmotifs, can be seen well in Tree of Life: Roots.
No I haven't, only red rescue team and watched a playthrough of explorers of the sky
I highly recommend taking a listen to the OST in that case
Perfect, Sounds Like Pokémon And That's What Matters! 😊 Great Video! ❤
Nice video my dude! been here since 4k subs, uwu love the vids,
The problem with battle themes is that there’s a fiiiine line between battle theme and anime intro music lol
I do have to say: don't focus on the negative comments. I know that's a cliché, but people that don't have anything to say, don't comment. It may have just looked like nobody thought it sounded Pokémon-like, because those that did, probably didn't think to mention it.

Using words instead of noises to discuss music theory feels counter intuitive.
Also it sounds like pokemon

We need "i made a touhou soundtrack" now
Chrunchy semitone gos brrrrrr
Someone needs to take a pokemon spinoff with these song they are just way to good to not be put to good use
I like fish
You did it better this time :)
Also i made a custom pokemon
this defo sounds like pokemon. u should try ur hand at making a touhou song tho! u did really good in ur first try
The fact that you can do all this in a day is crazy to me, as someone who can't make a single chord on FLstudio in a week🤣Tutorial🤔
me? making a tutorial? terrible idea, ill do it sometime
Idk what the hell they were talking about. That’s sounded like Pokémon! Could’ve fooled me 😅😂
and a follow up to my other comment on the other pokemon video, i hope you read it but these are REALLY good! i would really like to use these as my outro and in video music

I loved the first one tho😂❤
good video
