why does this have the park option on the transmission but the 750 doesn't? I would not want to rely on my parking brake on a steep hill.

It is the complete opposite actually. You shouldn't rely on the park gear to hold the weight of the truck, either loaded OR unloaded. The parking brake is designed to hold to weight of the truck and it's capacity of over 50,000lbs. That's why the F-750 does not have a park gear because the transmission "parking pawl" is not designed to hold the weight of a heavy truck parked on a steep hill. To prevent damage, Ford and every other heavy-duty truck manufacturer does not include a park gear over a certain GVWR. Hope that helps!
