Most cameras filter any UV and infrared light out, but these filters tend to be imperfect. It's the same reason you can see the infrared LED of a remote blinking away when looking at it through a camera.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, there exists in Taiwan as well. Also to be specific, having a mirror directly facing your bed is what the superstition is. So no worries for having a mirror in the bedroom only if the mirror does not face your bed.
