I watched the video with Dime explaining it, I like how he teaches it but I really needed to see it in HD. I also liked how you were explaining every little detail of what's you're doing. thanks for doing this video. I'm new to guitar but I'd love to practice this technique. R.I.P. Dime the legend
Thanks for showing how to do this CORRECT. I've seen a number of videos simply showing the "standard" of picking the harmonic and not flicking/depressing the trem.
That is exactly why I felt like doing this. Picking the harmonic is just fine but there’s such a ballsy sound with the flick and dump. It’s small but it definitely adds to the technique. 🤘🤘
Haha. Make sure you want a FR guitar. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another FR again. I don’t use it a lot and it’s such a pain in the butt to restring compared to hard tail guitars. Keep shredding 🤘🤘
@@StusWorld Its gets better with time. Unless changes in tuning. Also restringing happens like twice a year with good gear. Also if u add whammy for dime squeals they are longer.
Floyd rose bridge. There are a lot of downsides. I find there's more unwanted string reverberation. It really tests your muting. And you can bend the notes out of tune if you palm mute with too much pressure. I find once the new strings are stretched, the tuning isn't a problem. Restringing is a bit more work, and can be annoying. I've seen a few things that modern, non-locking nut tremolo bridges with locking tuners can take the same amount of abuse as an FR. Not sure they have the same range of movement but come with fewer downsides. Could be worth a look. But I find I play FR guitars more than anything else, so I'm pretty used to it by now.
Another cool thing he did to achieve even higher pitch was to use the wah peddle to pitch it up , for example at the end of cemetery gates he did that technique to get that long high pitch note. Awesome video !!
Minor Non-Pro tip: If you achieve enough slack in the string while the bar is dumped then it will naturally start to vibrate as the tension is restored so you can actually get away with just a bar dump without the flick.
Really useful tutorial, man thank you. I've just started doing these but I didn't know about the pre-dump on the bar. If you don't do that, they are still possible, but they don't have the same awesome sound. You get like a moment of open G with sounds awful.
Just got myself a Jackson pro series king v with a Floyd rose i nailed a squeal on the first try. I didn’t use dimes technique I picked the string instead but I got it. I used dimes flick and dump technique and eventually got a decent squeal
And as we now discover... Dime was using a wah pedal at the same time and dumped the foot pedal down as a squeely was coming up. He never verbally revealed that... but you can see it in a video during sound check with Damage Plan in Tokyo I think it was...
