We agree that the game-play is really difficult; but the reward is high. In some moments you really feel the fight. In any case, we provided three levels of difficulty: Novice / Knight / Master. In this way everyone will be able to play it.
@@hearsomeevil9199 We admit that's an unusual one. We know only one classic RPG with a (partially) similar control scheme: Silver (Infogrames, 1999). The controls remind me of this old Action RPG called Silver. You’d attack in a similar way using a combination of mouse gestures, clicking and holding down a button.
The directional attacks reminds me of Mount & Blade... And avoid using them like they're death itself, because it's just so awkward and isn't instinctive to use. Looks great beyond that though.
Good point! In our opinion, besides the game-play mechanics, the story is another key-element. Our goal is to propose a game-play that is appropriate to a consistent story.

Hello Splat! I have a question followed by a request. Is master of Orion a indigame? If it is I just bought the board game and would like to see the game it was made after please.
NGL, Game looks good but the attack system isn't original but it is unique. The only other game that uses the mouse directional movements for attacking is SILVER, a very old school game from the 90s. To lunge, use the attack button and slide the mouse upward, to quick turn or back attack, Attack with sliding the mouse down. You also have a dedicated Dodge/Block Button depending if your character has a shield equipped or not (which game graphics from then showcased the PC wielding 2 Swords). The PC can also learn special skills and magic from interacting with NPCs.
I wouldn't mind seeing more once it's been in early access for a bit. Definitely looking good, but I'm hoping they'll improve the sound scape with some voices.
Yes, absolutely. Voice acting will be provided. Due to a very limited, tiny budget we have been focused on the game-play mechanics and environments. But in the final version our characters will have voices, that is for sure.
I'm not sure what to think of it, it's not even in early access so it's normal to see rough edges. I'm interested in how it gets refined later on, good ideas with the combat system that would complement the classic rpg feel it already has.
I like the style, hack'n slash but hard. You really feel the danger to explore unknown crypts full of horrors. Want to see fullgame, i hope big boss fight, a large monsters variety, big world. keep it up devs, good work so far. The "so called" hack'n slash these days are just a display of blinding disgusting power to clean the screen as fast as possible, cant play these unwatchable things, so yeah, difficulty, a little technicity instead of the full power of godlikes heroes. Way less flashing lights, but dynamic combats where you fight for your life.
Your comment is remarkable. It's the best description of our game we've ever read. This is PRECISELY our goal: to change the experience of playing an RPG. And to have - as much as possible - real skill-based fights. I assure you that bosses are extremely challenging. If someone will be able to play and to finish the game on the Master mode, that one will be able to defeat ANY boss in ANY imaginable game. We have created a tweet just to share it with our followers: twitter.com/TheScholastics/status/1339869202740555778
It is true that you have to learn how to play. And the controls are unusual, indeed (we know just one classic RPG with a similar controlling system: Silver - made by Infogrames in 1999). But we hope that the reward of the patience to learn will be great.
Wild, never heard of a spider bite/sting a human, but I live in Canada, where mostly tiny house spiders survive. They need to tweak a few things, combat seems under whelming, you can't control what you pull, your abilities aren't to snuff and have a huge cooldown, there is AI issues, the guy with the big hammer seems to be the tank since he goes head long but can't hold aggro, and so on.
Is this an open world game? seems more like a dungeon diving ARPG, not that that's a bad thing. Or is the open world part just not featured in the demo.

Why not? But realistically speaking, it is easier to create a top-down RPG when your team has two people. In our case another reason is the related to the fact that we like classical top-down RPGs.
