Just wanted to say here, how helpful this vid and the concepts therein are. The Bollinger Band Bandwidth alone is keeping me out of inside trading zones (consolidation zones), something that can take valuable time away from finding the volatility that I want to trade. All excellent concepts and if applied correctly, will make me a much better stock trader. Thank you!
When the stock is in a trading range, the slow stochastic and bollinger bands work great! The question is when is the stock in a sideways trading range? As a filter, if the MONTHLY macd is positive and the WEEKLY macd is positive, I just hold the stock, it is trending UP and NOT in a trading range. If the MONTHLY MACD is negative and the macd is negative, the stock is trending DOWN and I short it. When the MONTHLY MACD and WEEKLY MACD are not in the same direction, the stock is NOT trending but pausing, so I use the Bollinger Bands and Slow Stochastic to trend the sideways consolidations. If the stock or mutual fund in moving very slow, both the Weekly and Monthly MACD give too many signals and this is the big flaw with the MACD, when the bollinger works best, the MACD does not work at all. Just avoid slow moving stocks, and use this MACD filter on stocks that are moving. A long term trend line or long term support and resistance also work well with bollinger bands to find support or resistance levels.
Let me add that 10 period Bollinger band 1SD, was extensively back tested at MIT by David Elliott about 30 years ago. When price is riding/repeatedly penetrating upper such band THE TREND IS UP IF THE BAND IS HEADED UP AS WELL (this holds true on any time frame chart--5 minute/15M/1H/4H/D/W etc.--direction changes when in that band price rides the lower 1 SD band. INSIDE 1 SD band (10 period) all movements are market noise--and trend RESIDES OUTSIDE that band. If price is riding 1SD band on MTF(say 5M,15 M,1H) simultaneously, you can be sure you are doing the right thing by buying. Martinelli also did work on this noise band. Longer trend can be easily checked by whether 50 period MA is above or below 100 period MA. Comments are welcome.

%b is about 50/50 accurate on volatile stocks on daily charts or any time interval. For every stock chart he shows it working on i can show you 1 that doesnt. I use the bollinger bands on a daily basis. I use it mostly for forex and commodities. Sometimes for stocks
At 21:20 he is using Volume with a 50 day SMA on it. He also does offer what he calls BBTK Normalized volume. This is calculated by taking Volume and dividing it by a moving average. Hope it helps.
Last, you can't predict with BB what will be the out coming of a squeeze or a range. For example at 37 mn, you have 2 UP squeezes but also 1 down squeeze, and if they are accumulation or distribution, BB can't tel. One should wait until the trend is starting. The one thing BB can tell that if a move in one side is stronger or weaker than in the other side... which is a strong visual help. But in the end, every indicator tends to let you loose the complexity of what i going on. So it increase the distance between the reality of price action, and you...

John uses a number of indicators that he's developed in addition to Bollinger bands. A lot of them can be found in his book "Bollinger on Bollinger Bands." In this video he uses Intraday Intensity, Bandwidth, and others. Thanks for watching!
The problem with Bollinger bands is that they rely on the MA, witch isn't necessary the center of the price dispersion, first MA is lagging then it is approximating the cycles. MA is the weak point, therefore Keltner uses EMA... one could try Belkhayate's mean of EMA(5), ie. Center of gravity line. BB is build on an old idea of Gaussian Price dispersion also. It should of course be Fisher Transformed :-). OTOH if it run, don't fix it . In the end, BB measures momentum... anyway i can't get it working for me.

If 1H & 4H trend is up one can safely enter on 15 minute chart,when 15 minute correction is over.Any suggestions? Traders biggest enemy is trend flipping on A dime(e.g. 1H/lower time frame trend).Trend on 4H chart is the best trend guide for majority of forex traders( if one keeps trades for 2-5 days). By the time trader realizes that trend on daily chart is up, market has already gone up about 3-5 days & if you ask supercomputer for the mathematical odds, computer tells you that odds are negative right from the start.Trend based on the last 5-10,four hourly candles has enough players/juice behind it so that it would not flip on A dime, so trader has decent chance to make something without buying overpriced asset. We seek your wisdom?
Maybe you can try to use multi timeframe of these BB to trade forex market on daily basis High price (near Top BB H4) + Candlestick cross middle BB H1 = SELL. Stoploss 50,60pips & Take profit 100,120pips. Good luck
